Thing in my head now on how America and racism have messed us up for this moment….

We keep hearing the comparisons to Nazi Germany

Why don’t we hear any comparisons to Rwanda

Roberts has always felt that the suggestion that white people might discriminate on the basis of race is a profound moral injustice, much greater than black people being denied the right to vote bsky.app/profile/jayw...
Everything about John Roberts's approach to the Voting Rights Act makes sense when you remember that John Roberts has has always been hostile to the Voting Rights Act, never believed it was appropriate, and has spent most of his 45-year legal career working to hollow it out.
One of the Biggest Cases of the Supreme Court’s Term Is John Roberts’ Decadeslong Pet Project

Yeah I have boundless respect from Talia but I felt this was off the mark too. I'm extremely skeptical of anyone criticizing protests because we truly don't know what will make a difference. And also, if this is the form of protest that lights a fire in you and keeps you going? DO IT.

Your near-daily reminder that newspapers have business reporters, not labor reporters. www.startribune.com/a-new-kind-o...
Text with the word “hardship” is highlighted: Rising costs of food, rent and labor, which trickle down to menu prices, are turning off customers, restaurateurs are finding. The hardship is even starker within Minneapolis city limits, where the minimum wage is higher than in neighboring suburbs, and bigger government offices make navigating licenses, permits and
regulations even trickier

I think part of this is that no singular tactic will ever do it.

We can look at history and say this or that one thing worked that time, but I think it's like getting a stuck lid open. Everything you already did probably helped.
so...dumping on people protesting as not doing the ideal thing or not defeating fascism...like, no one knows the ideal thing, and no one has hit on the tactic to make fascism stop.
Anyway I sprinted off the train to get away from them but I left my tote bag, and of course they were the ones to call after me and make sure I came back to get it. So now I'm the a-hole. This is more hard truth than anyone should have to face before 9:30 am.
On the train this morning a woman was sitting next to me and her male companion, who was standing in front of her, kept stroking her hand and arm and playfully walking his fingers up them. I can't tell you why this was the most annoying thing in the world; you'll just have to take my word for it.

So I have had two Palestinians I’ve shared lose their account this week- it was their first accounts, they didn’t understand the platform, weren’t spamming or DMing anyone- sent in appeals with pictures of their IDs and heard nothing from @moderation.bsky.app

Systemic racism was/is the warm-up act for authoritarianism across the board. In case anyone is still unclear on that point
