The CIA killed a President and got away with it. Bush built a forever prison in an illegally-held exclave. Obama made a legal assassination list that can include US citizens with no judicial review. Things are bad rn but it is bad in direct continuity with the past.

ICE is all over the city and burbs today, including Waukegan. Multiple reports on social media from people who have found empty work vans and are trying to locate family of their owners. This is a near daily occurrence now.

I mean they seem like they're idiots and in many ways they are and are paid to be, but with this sort of this they're often trying to lose deliberately rather than let a real challenge to their power into the clubhouse. They would easily rather have a republican than someone who won't play ball.

A reminder.

Humanity has never removed an atmospheric pollutant at a global, continental or, even, regional scale — we have only ever shut down the source and let nature do the clearing up. This is the case for chlorofluorocarbons and stratospheric ozone destruction, for sulfur dioxide and acid rain, and for sulfur and nitrogen oxides and photochemical smog. We must be prepared for CDR to be a failure, leaving us to rely on the environment to stabilize atmospheric CO₂ over thousands of years. This is another argument for rapid decarbonization.
