Yeah, so baking soda will act as a leavening went it's heated as well as reacting with acids! :D and fun fact baking powder is baking soda + cream of tartar so similar principles! Vanilla extract (& all extracts) are an alcohol, technically kinda acidic but it doesn't really effect it much! Yippeee
