People are weird about redemption in media, and partially, at least in the US, it's because we're indoctrinated to be weird about redemption in general. People treat suffering as the ultimate form of atonement and can't reconcile the idea that someone can change but you don't have to forgive them.

Anyway love my current partner. Gently tells me when they think I make mistakes, instead of goad me into making them and then scream at me that I'm stupid for having done so. Encourages my art always. Tells me to log off every now and then. Sweetheart supreme.

I felt so seen by your story and I'm sorry. Like, random horrible things happen, say dangerous mold in the home, or in my case carbon monoxide leaking in small amounts. These things are worse than having to wait longer for your art.

I think because I'm somewhat reactive at times when criticized harshly, people won't be upfront with me. I would do better with discomfort being expressed upfront, than hear like 5 months later someone who never told me "no" thinks I'm the devil now because I'm bad at social cues.

Anyway, dunno who needs to hear this, because I've been thinking about former friendships that went badly. Being up front and blunt about your boundaries may seem mean in a community full of autistic people, but it'll actually save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

He suggested we were all listening to that embarrassing 3OH! song, me at home, them at his work, and making fun of someone I had beef with at the time. Spoiler alert: this didn't happen. It was a manipulation to bait me into reaching out to someone that didn't want to hear from me.

I've been trying to listen to local radio instead of spotify because I'm canceling it. I had to be reminded this morning (one of the few, vivid things I remember from 2023) of that time my ex was lying to me that a polycule of furries I used to know came into his work and they were partying.
