Buy my spooky little book. Link in bio.
Yes. And then it started to bleed.
I feel like writers don't talk enough about how much we stub our toes on chairs and desks. (I've just stubbed my toe.)

In honor of spooky month, share a 4 word horror story that only someone in your profession would understand

I'll go first: Six page commercial lease.

If you are looking for an unusual, tense, and oddly beautiful horror movie this Halloween, I highly recommend A Dark Song, should it have escaped your notice before.
Woman facing a doorway with arcane symbols with title A Dark Song and accolades including Outstanding abd An Utterly Unique Film.
I keep thinking about this beautiful poem and can't imagine how any author could ever write another word ever again.

I published Anthony Cartwright's novella in micro-fiction via @thebraag.bsky.social yesterday! It's incredible, deeply weird, searching, moving through alternate histories, leviatha as industrial process, capitalism as death cult, all deepy moored in the landscape of the black country.
cover of necrosmologies by anthony cartwright. a moody blue and black shy hangs over a grey and ruined cityscape.

A page from a book, printed in a red-brown ink. The top left contains a stylised papercut picture of a slightly scrawny, scraggly-looking fox. Beneath it is the text of the poem, “Fox’, by Ian Hamilton Finlay, published in GLASGOW BEASTS, AN A BURD, HAW, AN INSEKS, AN, AW, A FUSH, with papercuts by John Picking & Pete McGinn (The Wild Flounder Press, 1961):

Titled this ‘Beware the Friendly Stranger’ after the Boards of Canada song of the same name. This can be seen on my instagram account with the song in accompaniment. The music conveyed a sense of the outre that I hoped to achieve visually.
I would not disagree, but he begins the critique with YOU the writer, as opposed to the system of publishing. Okay well fine, let’s all just give up at the very start.
I honestly believe you shouldn’t make those sort of assumptions. Be encouraging, Simon. You know full well there are no rules.
The donut thing is seriously fucking with me.
Sure but like that’s just your opinion, man.
Yeah but Simon’s critique is seriously fucked and harmful.

one of the clearest signs you're dealing with a strong and principled political movement is when they want to make it illegal to make fun of them
