In 1971, a 30-year-old Neal Adams sat down to crank out a Superman cover for Julie Schwartz. Took him an hour or so. It became one of the most iconic comic book covers of all time. Coming up at Heritage soon. Might be a million dollar piece.

Four black and white panels of a boy and girl sitting on steps. 1st panel: Charlie Brown is approaching and the boy says “Well! Here comes ol’ Charlie Brown!” 2nd panel: As Charlie Brown passes, he says “Good ol’ Charlie Brown…yes, sir!” 3rd panel: “Good ol’ Charlie Brown…” 4th panel: Once Charlie is gone, “How I hate him!”

Yeah, making comics is hard. But starting from scratch each time, makes it harder. That’s why I’m trying to build on what I’ve done before, rather than trying to find a new audience each time.
I agree. So many comics don’t catch on because it’s a miniseries and then done. Building out your own “storyworld” over time is the way to go. That’s what we’re doing w/ The Family Graves. Creating standalone stories that are “jumping on points” but also continue to build the world of the story.

I think it's becoming clear that if you like indie creators, you're going to need to support them any way you can. And that doesn't mean money, just spreading worth of mouth can be powerful as well.
