Esteban Rios, who had been wearing a hat and shirt that read “Proud Dad of a U.S. Marine,” was deported on Friday, his son said.

“He said, ‘Yeah, this is my lucky shirt, so we’ll be fine,’” Rios recalled his father saying.
Family visit to Camp Pendleton ended with ICE deporting Marine’s dad
A U.S. Marine says his parents were detained by ICE officials after they visited a California military base and one of them was later deported.

This is about the preservation of a significant artifact of WWII incarceration, but it's also about the ongoing fight against the colonial/white supremacist erasure and rewriting of history, and the impunity with which it happens in white towns (where the concentration camps were) throughout the US:
Please consider signing @wakasamemorial.bsky.social's open letter calling for the protection/preservation of Japanese American incarceration history, and the Wakasa memorial site and stone at the Topaz concentration camp in Utah: t.ly/jh2dE

“The Defense Department has confiscated the badges of the Pentagon reporters from virtually every major media organization in America,” the Pentagon Press Association said

Oct. 15, 2025
PENTAGON PRESS ASSOCIATION
STATEMENT
Today, the Defense Department confiscated the badges of the Pentagon reporters from virtually every major media organization in America. It did this because reporters would not sign onto a new media policy over its implicit threat of criminalizing national security reporting and exposing those who sign it to potential prosecution.
The Pentagon Press Association's members are still committed to reporting on the U.S. military. But make no mistake, today, Oct. 15, 2025 is a dark day for press freedom that raises concerns about a weakening U.S. commitment to transparency in governance, to public accountability at the Pentagon and to free speech for all.

Pentagon beat reporters have been handing in their press passes all day long today. It is one of the most striking examples of news media solidarity we've seen this year.
You'll see me.
Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"

The deportation order is based on Vedam’s conviction for murder—a crime he did not actually commit and for which he’s now been wholly exonerated. He entered the US at 9 months old and was a legal permanent resident before his conviction. We are so, so, so far from the light of justice.
After spending 43 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, evidence hidden by the prosecution reversed his conviction. Rather than finally enjoying freedom, ICE abducted him for deportation

Depraved.

On April 11, 1943, James Hatsuaki Wakasa was walking his dog at Topaz when he was shot and killed by a guard. His fellow prisoners erected a stone memorial. When the U.S. government ordered it destroyed, the prisoners chose, instead, to bury it where it remained hidden for nearly 80 years.

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

Ohhhh not staying the order is *really interesting*. The tidal shift we're seeing in the past two or three weeks in how much judges are *completely done* with the presumption of regularity and refusing to play Calvinball is fascinating
DOJ: I would just reiterate request for stay pending appeal and admin stay and note request in order.

Judge: I am denying both requests for stays.
