[dodger fan showing up in the 7th inning] wow man this Yamamoto guy is a pretty good reliever
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
I'll be petty about the Dodgers, too, if they're brave enough to give me the chance (cowards)
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
to be clear both of these teams have annoyed me, personally, this year

B-b-but the Brewers were supposed to be infallible geniuses

I'm sorry but the people can't do small market, small payroll discourse with the national broadcast right now. (Lemon,) It's a Tuesday. No one is gonna do shots

like there's a big difference, to me, between a standard DeCamara or Giglio take and...whatever the hell this is.
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
I actually don't think it is, even if the conversation is often dumb. But I do think that there baseball takes are generally terrible, lacking understanding of the league and modern approaches
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
ok FINE I'll write about Bryce Harper. Read it tomorrow by subscribing to Baseball Prospectus. Or don't, I'm not your dad (but it sure would be cool if you did)
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
for real, man. Extremely "go hard or get out of the way" territory for me
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
I really don't like to dig at another person in the general field, but let's be real: The field is extremely limited at this point. it's only getting smaller, all the time. Having a job like this and mailing it in with specious claims and flaky commitment is insulting
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
the effort to do this with Harper, in particular, would have to be Herculean. Loser energy off the charts
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
Either you don't know basic details of the job, or have terrible phrasing. Whatever it is, you have serious work to put in before making any other public attempt at doing the job. Maybe start with showing up to the park more than a guy who lives two hours away and staying to watch a whole game

2) The team can't "move on" from him. He has 10-and-5 rights. Maybe things get crazy and gross and sour and there's an ugly breakup. But the team isn't "moving on" from him. They can't.
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
He answers questions post game, all the time, about himself an about the team. He listens carefully when he doesn't have to, even if he's not giving the quote of the year
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
1) Bryce Harper *is* the culture. The entire team as we know it, the entire run they've been on, doesn't happen without him. Maybe *a* run of some sort happens, but not like this. And in my access to the team, he's in the clubhouse before the game more than pretty much anyone.
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
Bryce is not beyond reproach and I have my concerns about his current plan of attack/deployment of skills but good lord, this is the worst possible way I could imagine cooking up a hot take about him, or any player
timjacksonsays.bsky.social
I have to write tonight but man I am super distracted by a Phillies "reporter" questioning what Bryce Harper adds culturally to the team and saying the team could "move on" from him

My whole generation got lost in the margin
We put our faith in you and you turned a profit
Now we're drowning here under the waves 🎵
