A cold rocky world languishes in the feeble glow of a brown dwarf, itself part of a distant binary pair whose partner can just be seen as a small magenta speck just over its limb. Perhaps a view like this exists around the real-life brown dwarf binary Luhman-16, the closest brown dwarfs to Sol.
An image depicting a rocky landscape bathed in deep red light. In the center, a brown dwarf dominates the scene, with alternating bands of incandescent cloud layers glowing various shades of magenta, red, and orange. From our vantage point the cloud bands are oriented roughly vertically. Over the north-eastern limb of the brown dwarf, a distant second companion is visible only as a tiny magenta dot.

sela yar is such a funny star trek character, like, conceptually. like oh we killed this character off but now she's back, as her alternate history self. but we killed her off too but now she's back, as her alternate history self's half-romulan daughter.

On January 14 2005 the Huygens probe landed on Titan. On the way down it obtained many photos of the surroundings from which a map could be made. Digital models of the scenery and the spacecraft were prepared and rendered in a fisheye view. I then hand painted most of the fine details in Photoshop.

Following current 5-year trendlines, Furry Weekend Atlanta will be attended by everyone in the US by 2055, all living humans (UN median projection 2024) by 2065, and shortly after that, all humans who have ever lived in 2072.

Hi! Nice to meet you, I'm the faceless technician who's job it is to explain what a nanorobot is to the audience in every movie with a magic nanotech liquid metal character. You might have already met my brother, the guy who explains that EMP stands for electromagnetic pulse.
