Join us on Patreon next week as we drop our next episode of Based on a True Podcast looking at the 1998 James Whale quasi-biopic GODS AND MONSTERS! The movie won an Oscar for screenwriter Bill Condon, and some might argue we wouldn't have Brendan Fraser in THE MUMMY if not for this movie. #filmsky
Roger Corman said that directors who worked for him usually never had to work for him again. Director Rodman Flender, who came out of the Corman school, talks about that in our latest episode on 1959's A BUCKET OF BLOOD. Became a Patron and listen now! What's your favorite Roger Corman movie?
Thank you! Shouting out Doctor Macro!
Happy heavenly birthday to two utterly astounding actresses: Jean Arthur and Rita Hayworth! Both performed in a variety of different genres. One was brassy and scrappy, the other was elegance with a flair for dance. We can't imagine our love of Old Hollywood without them. #filmsky #moviesky
So sad to hear about the loss of Samantha Eggar today at the age of 86.

Her fabulous work in William Wyler's THE COLLECTOR (1965) was the first I'd seen of her, and she gave equally wonderful performances in DOCTOR DOOLITTLE (1967) and David Cronenberg's THE BROOD (1979).
Doing a dual Throwback Thursday, taking it back to 2022 when we did our Vincent Price Top 3 with Karie Bible and last year's episode on THE TINGLER (1959). Listen to both in our archive at the link in bio. #filmsky #moviesky
It's fall and we're manifesting a better job market and a cozy fall swathed in long coats and glamour.

Who's your go-to fall fashionista on film?

Our Halloween recommendation for this week is Tod Browning's 1935 feature MARK OF THE VAMPIRE. This was Browning's attempt to recapture the success he had with DRACULA, four years prior, after coming of the movie FREAKS in 1932. MARK OF THE VAMPIRE is eerie with a highly unique ending. #filmsky
Are you ready for A BUCKET OF BLOOD (1959)? Special guest Rodman Flender sits down with us to talk about Roger Corman and this quasi-horror film that's really more a beatnik send-up. You won't want to miss it next week. #filmsky
Our 💙 is with the family and friends of actress Diane Keaton, who passed away at the age of 79. Keaton was one of the defining actresses of the 1970s and 1980s. From THE GODFATHER to BABY BOOM, FIRST WIVES CLUB to FATHER OF THE BRIDE, Keaton was always a magnetic powerhouse. We'll miss her.
Our Ticklish Biz Halloween recommendation for this week is 1942's CAT PEOPLE. This Val Lewton masterpiece has so many layers to it and is anchored by a fabulous performance from the underrated Simone Simon.
It's Throwback Thursday and this week we're going back to last year's Halloween episode when TALES FROM THE CRYPT cinematographer Levie Isaaks joined us to talk about George Romero's 1968 film NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. Listen to the full episode via our archive at TicklishBusiness.podbean.com.

We're recommending spooky movies all this month starting with this 1960s Brit chiller which you can watch on @TCMtv.bsky.social today! Village of the Damned is so eerie and fun, with George Sander giving a great performance.
We'e celebrating a dual birthday today! One is known for being practically perfect in every way while the other was best at playing curmudgeons. Happy birthday to Julie Andrews and Emily's favorite, Walter Matthau! Could you imagine these two making a movie together?! #filmsky
