You have a strong mind & you are capable, don't be so quick to second guess yourself. That effing blows, I am sorry for the stress. I had one a few weeks ago where I thought it was an open note quiz when it was actually a monitored exam 😬

Some of us can NOT stand the touch of our skin touching our own skin. I can't stand when my forearm touches my upper arm 🤮 a layer of cloth goes a long way. A moment of patience goes even further. It may be "weird" or "different" and that is okay! You may find that you have more headspace our way 🤔

The real hack to autistic cuddling is perspective. Do you see us trying, or do you see us squirming? Do you see us trying to convince our bodies that your touch isn't danger? Or do you see us being awkward in our own flesh? Do you see cuddles as not frequent enough, or us saying "I love you back"?

Autistic kids can, will, and want cuddle... when they have the sensory reserves to do so. Leaning is a joy-inducing way to cuddle for us; doesn't deplete our reserves as fast. Be compassionately adjusting to fidgets & fidgeting will settle. Don't restrict us. 👇

Something my grandma did with my dad that I am going to do with my kids: Mental Wellness Days (MWDs).

One day per semester you get to use a MWD. That means no school for the day, no questions asked, and one reasonable activity (go to the library, swimming, movie, etc.)

I took two midterms today.

In one course, I read about 90% of 4 chapters & made a 77.

In the other course, I read about 10% of 6 chapters and made a 90.

Moral of the story?

Don't wait until the last day you can do your midterm to pick up your textbook for the first time 😳
