Being a cop is hard, dangerous work. With real standards, required skills, and paperwork. They’re not motivated by the idea of “public service” per se.

They’re motivated by the idea of beating people up and throwing them in vans. Ideally people who they’re predispositioned to reflexively dislike.

Oregon National Guard Adjutant General, General Gronewold says if they are federalized, that he will advise the Title 10 commander to utilize National Guard Troops to PROTECT protesters at ICE facilities. This is the right answer.
