Anyway that kinda all leads to a thought I had during the movie that so much online discourse around films these days deteriorates the moment they hit digital/ streaming because a significant portion of the population thinks of film as background noise and not a text to be engaged with

I’m just baffled cuz A.) people need to know how to do something as basic as putting their phone on silent B.) it almost felt as if me asking for some quiet and them settling back into actually watching the movie w/o yapping or texting led them to eventually just getting bored of it and leaving

So I politely tell her to silence her phone, she obliged tho it seemed like she had no idea how to even do that so one of her friends helps. They all sit watching the movie pretty intently for maybe 30 mins or so until they all up and leave before the last act even starts

The one next to me kept texting on her phone every now and then, but not a lot. Again, I have steel resolve and her brightness was down. I was still invested in the film. But ,eventually it gets to the point where she’s getting multiple texts back to back and it makes a notif sound each time

Had the most bizarre annoying theater experience tonight. Went to see Frankenstein (amazing, would recommend) but next to me were a group of 3 women who were whispering to each other a good chunk of the movie. I tend to not mind quiet comments or questions (especially if to get food or smth) but

i think its good that bluesky is boring and you dont want to scroll through it too much because you're not supposed to waste your day away scrolling on social media when you could be using the computer to play & draw & learn before the corporations destroy the rest of the internet. tick tock

Felt refreshing not only to see ParaNorman for the first time in theaters but to also watch it in a theater where none of the parents who brought kids let them play on their phones through the whole movie
