The Stand (1994) Review

Who knew the apocalypse could be this dull?

Of all the Stephen King novels I have read, The Stand occupies a very special place.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994) Review

Don't be obtuse - read my acutely observed review of The Shawshank Redemption.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Leaving Sky Movies on in the background while you’re working can be very hazardous to your Letterboxd diary. 😬
The Tommyknockers (1993) Review

Stephen King's alien addiction novel needed this adaptation like it needed a metal plate in its head.

True and too faithful adaptations bring their own problems.
I’ve seen both copies and I agree the extended version is better but I adored the novel to the point where I’m not sure any adaptation could really do it justice in my eyes. One of the biggest issues for me is the shop in the movie never looks right to me!
Needful Things (1993) Review

The Devil's in the discount.

The Dark Half (1993) Review

The real Captain Sparrow.

There’s something divided about The Dark Half, and not just in its plot.

The Lawnmower Man (1992) Review

The film that King abdicated.

Sleepwalkers (1992) Review

What is it with Stephen King and cats anyway?
thecraggus.com/?p=49047
Oh they’ve seen them all. Objectively poor media literacy is a requirement for techbro status.
And yet ironically most of Craig’s films were about him wanting to retire.
Golden Years (1991) Review

King sets out the template for the X-Files to follow.

Sometimes They Come Back (1991) Review

Saved By The Hell: The Old Class.

The dead have lousy timing in Sometimes They Come Back.

That’s Mr Leto, to you. 😉
Hey Disney, I fixed your typo for you. #TruthInAdvertising
Pretty fucking obvious what’s under all that camouflage…
I made the “mistake” of watching the tail end of a #StarTrekDeepSpaceNine season five episode a few days ago and, well, long story short I’ve just finished watching #WhatYouLeaveBehind. Now tempted to start from scratch with #Emissary.

Misery (1990) Review

Stephen King finds the fear in fan fiction.

Tron: Ares (2025) Review

Tron: Ares proves that not even the grid is immune from enshittification.

The first thing you notice about Tron: Ares is that it’s loud.

Pet Sematary (1989) Review

When it comes to Stephen King stories, sometimes read is better.
