Sure, #dragons are cool...

...but have you ever compared nutritional density, optimal climate, and agricultural efficiency of a dozen staple crops in order to determine how much growing space your invented culture needs to survive while preventing soil exhaustion?

No, just me? #writingcommunity
Still so many tricky parts! My characters are looking at the spaces to be filled and getting ideas... 🙄
(I’ve only drafted like 5k words since restructuring. Can a mathematician explain? Or is this simply the magic of the rewrite?)
#Writer maths: I started with a 80k-word manuscript of my book. I removed 15k of it to make space for deeper scenes and re-structuring, and I now have… 79,500 words, somehow.

aaaaand I'm officially at that point in edits where the new structure is taking hold, meaning every chapter is in a dozen pieces, and... wait, where did my inciting incident go? Has anyone seen it?

Anyone?

Send help. #writingcommunity #amwriting #amediting #booksky
I swear I cannot be the only person in this whole modern social media ecosystem who finds thinking and writing in the space of a "tweet" or a "thread" or a "caption" really f'n limiting? Like, it's damn near impossible for me to shape my thoughts into bite-sized pithiness, never mind when it's impor
Ah, yes, the TER"F" mission to "protect women and girls" by... *checks notes* ensuring all people born with a uterus are bound by patriarchal standards of femininity. Make it make sense.
I am slowly wading back out into the world. For anyone curious, a personal update: amyvborg.com/in-memoriam/

applying for jobs again
"April is the cruellest month..."
Freelancing over here, and everyday is someday -- mainly a mix of Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays -- yet still somehow can't get the hang of Thursdays.

That looks amazing. Added to my list of things to seek out!
Spent a beautiful weekend in Girona with the Boy. Nothing is quite so inspiring to my #writer brain as some unstructured time in a new place, especially when it's full of mysterious sights, crumbling ruins, and tiny glimpses into a thousand histories.

Those Game of Thrones vibes don't hurt either.
Their special editions are always gorgeous!

"No, I couldn't possibly," she says, while dragging out writing the last three chapters over *weeks* now...
I write most of my rough drafts longhand! End up doing my first edits as I type them up. And scrivener is a life saver for my messy messy process.
Love this! Been thinking a lot lately about worldbuilding and the importance of our natural contexts (for a thing!). I definitely want to try out the activity!
I love that -- trying to do more with my reflective writing/journaling, but primarily I'm a fictionalist -- sci-fi/fantasy/spec novels and short stories. Have done the occasional short memoir as well and trying to get back into that mental space, but it's hard, sometimes. What sort of blog is it?
Definitely less reactive than the other places. Hoping it stays that way! How's your writing going?
