Currently reading "One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This" by Omar El Akkad. Going to share on this thread as I read through it for the next 9 days (doing a chapter each day) some of the standout excerpts.

Just saw 2 Palestinian accounts vanish right after asking me for help--one a mother grieving her baby daughter who just died of starvation, another begging for help to keep her little sick, starving baby daughter alive. I cannot say what I think of Bluesky admin.

I think that's why I love it so much. I wasnt really trying to do art, but the art of it found me anyway.

I love people.
I know things suck right now, but when we are faced with challenges and no easy solutions, we usually find new solutions from what we have.

Anyway, my record player, unassuming as it is, is quietly one of the most scathing reviews of capitalism and money you'll find.

And it's on my nightstand.

(And probably lots of others tbh, this is a common trick)

I have a record player in my house that doesn't play very well. The arm wasn't quite heavy enough to keep contact, especially with newer vinyls. So like 5 years ago, I stuck a Canadian loonie on the top with a little poster tack.

It would have cost more to fix the arm.

Im gonna say this. Im too grossed out for eloquent words. "Father figure" on Taylor's new album is a confession of grooming.
