The voting age in Ecuador is 16, which makes sense to me since they'll be adults for at least half of candidate's term
If you decide to revert and happen to be in Nashville you're welcome to celebrate Byzantine divine liturgy with me. I've found it to be the best for my values because the beatitudes are part of it every week 😎
He's from the south side of Chicago, he knows organized crime when he sees it
I agree, starting with the TLM people. Most of them converted recently, haven't respected any popes during their time in the church (Francis or Leo XIV), and constantly disparage the vast majority of church leadership and laity.
We need ag policy that prioritizes soil health. Businesses don't think long term so we need policy that forces good stewardship, otherwise our descendants will experience untold suffering
My partner and I want kids but it's just not possible in the US. We're planning on immigrating somewhere with lower maternal mortality and fewer child gun deaths
The last GIS class I took consisted of a textbook. The professor didn't lecture, he just told us to turn in all of the book's assignments as a single pdf on the last day of class. Ghost pedagogy
One thing I've noticed now that I'm in an Ag program is that a lot of my peers know nothing about the natural world. I think including some ecology/environmental science classes in undergrad ag curriculum would help move us towards more sustainable ag in the future
It's biotic mediated (the negative PSF only appears in non-sterile soil). I'm working on mycorrhizal colonization measurements so hopefully that will give us a better idea of the mechanism
Why do tech companies get to do this to us??
Fun fact, sourwood seedlings have better survival in Kalmia latifolia soil compared to conspecific soil. Manuscript in progress on that one
We all know that the people who want to discriminate against trans kids because they ostensibly "care about women's sports" are the same people who made WNBA jokes 15-20 years ago
I think the universities own all of our intellectual output in the US, so if you start working on an idea while at the university they might come after you for the patents. Take that with a grain of salt, I'm in a field with no prospects of commercialization
I think he should excommunicate JD Vance, Candace Owens, and Matt Walsh too. Actually Candace Owen's entire parish is full of bigots, excommunicate the whole group I say
My dataset is so right-skewed that it's defying all transformations, the news has been especially bad today, and I can't seem to get it together and be productive. Ugh.

Do you have any metrics on how switching grain production to Kernza would impact climate change? I know the reduction in tilling helps with topsoil health, but I haven't heard much in terms of GHG emissions/soil carbon sequestration

CST rocks, and I love that one of the themes is *preferential* option for the poor. Not just tolerance, not just equal treatment, EQUITY. It is our moral duty to put our efforts towards helping the most vulnerable first, and that it so applicable to climate change
St. Basil the great has some homilies from the 4th century that discuss this exact thing. Wealth has been eroding the humanity of all who possess it since time immemorial
Enjoy! I loved taking the tube in London, it's so much better than driving
Great! More people need to think this way, and I hope people listen to Pope Leo. St. Basil has some great homilies on the subject for anyone who's interested
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven
