I'm sure I'm not the first to coin the phrase but we are living in an Odiocracy: a society where the ruling class increasingly consists of the most evil and odious people, where being openly repugnant and willing to say or do repellent things is the best way to climb the ladder and vice is virtue.

I haven’t read the book but speaking just of the film all I see is a cold depiction of rage and nihilism that only really warms up around the concepts of destruction for destructions sake. This is a classic fincher problem - can’t make anything with soul, really clinical and fascinated by violence
