What a bunch of uncow unfood
The Emerald City of Oz is my favorite, it just had more imagination per chapter than anything since the first one. Whimsies! Growleywogs! Rigamaroles! Bunbury! Fuddlecumjig! Frickin UTENSIA
14 by Baum, 19 by Ruth Plumly Thompson, 3 by John R. Neill (who illustrated all Oz books but the first!), two by Jack Snow, and then a couple of one-shots as it petered out, around the time the original book entered PD.
Authorized by the original publishers, who kept them coming because it became a tradition to have a new Oz book every Christmas. The very last one was from 1963!
I had absolutely no memory of this one, I thought it must have been regional, or preempted in my area
A book with 39 official sequels, 13 by the original author!
Share a cartoon from the past that kids today have probably never heard of

(To be fair, kids of the past probably never heard of this one either)

Jim Henson: I have some notes
SO. COOL. Tell the Deranged Millionaire we love him!
Multiple subjects. Have five characters in a queue so when one gets close to your limit, the overflow goes to the next one, but they’re pictured together. Five bellies are better than one, right?
he’s just very unlucky that somehow this keeps happening to him, always when no one is looking
Some people are smart enough to know better, but can’t shake their worst habits.
What’s wild is that this is the FIRST Mario balloon. Forty years and he hadn’t had a balloon until now!
why do they call it oven
Not to mention that Baum’s “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus” predates Coke’s use of Santa by nearly 30 years! And I can’t prove it but I think that book is the first known example of Santa saying “Ho, ho, ho”, albeit as part of a song.
Santa’s origin is still mysterious too, though. Plenty of people believe he was invented from whole cloth by Coke.
