Hello! I'm Jessica Redekop, a freelance writer and game designer for TTRPGs. I love cats, movies, collaborative storytelling, and the Planescape D&D setting. Most of my work is for Paizo, on the Pathfinder and Starfinder RPGs, and you can find a list of my publication credits on my website:

legroom has gotten so bad on these planes that my duffel bag, which - to be clear - does fully fit under the seat, struggles to pass through the space between the front of my seat and the back of the seat in front of me. I had to take my keys out of the front pocket to wedge it through 😫

Last season of Game Changer, we did a cool activation with LinkedIn in which they helped us give Jacob a prize of $100,000.

This season, I have a similar opportunity for the right brand willing to give us $50,000+ worth of their product.

Hit me up ASAP if you're interested!

If anyone is feeling generous this Indigenous Peoples Day, the bank holiday has put me further from my paycheck than I planned and I'm without food for the day and tomorrow. Would like to raise $125 for food and to avoid a late fee on a bill.

In this essay, I will argue that stark wealth inequality places us in entirely different lived realities, making it impossible for the life lived by a normal person to be rationally understood or comprehended by the modern billionaire class, and that Peter Thiel is a Lovecraftian horror.

When Lovecraft wrote about incomprehensible aliens, he (a racist) had a cultural other in mind. It's foundational to the Lovecraftian horror that this incomprehensibility isn't one-way, that we are also alien to the horrors. Thus, the Lovecraftian alien now represents our modern billionaire class.

My character is Cirnum Silvertoes, Earl of Langian. Caer Langian, the Barrow of the Wistful Dim, includes domain over dewdrops, condensation, and nostalgia for worst pasts remembered fondly.

Because it feels relevant as we continue to evaluate the media and our representatives’ statements, my favorite way to identify the active vs. passive voice.
A post by Rebecca Johnson:
“I finally learned how to teach my guys to ID the passive voice. If you can insert "by zombies" after the verb, you have passive voice.”

A tumblr respond from mightymur:
“The final, brilliant word on passive voice.
"She was killed [by zombies.]"<--passive
"Zombies killed [by zombies] her." <-- active”

Hotel Mira, the band that opened for Our Lady Peace and Collective Soul earlier this year, came back through Winnipeg so I got to see them twice in one year! They put on a really fantastic show, check them out if their tour comes near you. Tickets for the show here were only something like $30
Photo of the band Hotel Mira on stage from taken from a handful of rows away from the stage; the bottom of the photo includes the backs of peoples' heads.

On stage, the band is illuminated by multiple coloured lights. Charlie Kerr, center stage, sings into the microphone with his eyes closed and hand pressed against his chest.

Yes! The show was so good, definitely one of the best drag shows I've seen. ❤️

If Tina Burner, Scarlet Envy, and Alexis Michelle's Witch Perfect hasn't been to your city yet and you can still get tickets, it was really good.
Photo of three drag queens on stage dressed as the Sanderson Sisters - left to right, Alexis Michelle as Mary, Tina Burner center stage as Winifred, and Scarlet Envy as Sarah - awkwardly twerking for comedic effect in front of a screen displaying a collage of three images of RuPaul. The stage is illuminated by green light. Were you a fan of the Bladesoul, or was it not quite edgy enough for you? Either way, this monstrous update is for you. The Waepen is a new fan skin for Monsterhearts 2.

Always remember that part of what you are doing as a game designer is creating an instruction manual for the GM. You want it to be clear for the GM what they should do when they're running your creature, you don't want to just have a bunch of 2-action activities and no guidance on how they interact.
tectonomancer.bsky.social
I talk about dragons a lot but dragons need to recharge their breath weapon after they use it. The GM is naturally guided to use draconic frenzy while breath weapon recharges, and draconic frenzy helps them roll more so they're more likely to crit and therefore more likely to refresh breath weapon.
tectonomancer.bsky.social
You can get creative with your reaction triggers, but you want the players to feel rewarded when they do learn about the creature rather than punished for not knowing something was coming.
tectonomancer.bsky.social
You may be tempted to "balance" powerful abilities by making them 3-actions, but be careful your 3-action activities don't require positioning setup or you'll never be able to pull them off. Make sure the creature still has something to do when they lose an action to slow or stun debuffs.
