I am not fun at parties, why do people keep speculating about this

The outward behavior is that a machine that routinely fucks up simple tasks, and can't explain why, managed to fuck up another simple task and couldn't explain why.

Imputing a "survival drive" is just human psychological projection. We do that to each other, animals, and inanimate objects.
But to be fair, I will say that models that were prone to self-shutdown would've been culled a long time ago. This is not something we can call a "will" or a "self", but this kind of selective pressure is how those phenomena emerge.
As a regular user of agentic AI tools (mandatory, for work) I refuse this is anything but the another of the million ways an LLM can find an excuse to fuck up an extremely basic and unmistakeable instruction because of misinterpreting and/or overweighting previous context.
Jesus Christ.
Quote from Timothy Mellon, who donated $130 million to the U.S. military, so you know who we’re dealing with:

“Black people, in spite of heroic efforts by the "Establishment" to right the wrongs of the past, became even more belligerent and unwilling to pitch in to improve their own situations”.
If my plumber "accidentally" got a Nazi tattoo and covered it after I caught it, he can still be my plumber, but I'm sorry, he's never going to be my elected rep.

I think we all understand that Republicans have no standards whatsoever. That's not a party to imitate.
white guys and people who make white-guy mistakes.
I have no trouble believing and forgiving a plumber who says he accidentally got a 2nd tier Nazi tat and promises to cover it up.

But that guy can't be my elected representative!
Why does "authentic working class" always seem to reduce to "white guys and guys who make white-guy mistakes"
I did guess, and I'm not particularly proud, because it's a shitty thing to be right about.
This is literally just a list of government propaganda outsource partners.
It's not a solution, it's a precondition.
The horseshoe becomes a circle.
"If you don’t have any borders, you don’t have a nation," Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). "Trump did a better job. I don’t like Trump, but we should have a secure border. It ain’t that hard to do. Biden didn't do it." www.newsweek.com/bernie-sande...
Bernie Sanders praises Trump's job on securing border
"I don’t like Trump, but we should have a secure border. It ain’t that hard to do. Biden didn't do it," the senator said.

Wow, so Jacobin is just going straight-up horseshoe fascist now, eh?

Somewhat shocking, but not at all surprising from this bunch of scheming little turds.
Kill them until they're not alive anymore. Thanks for the tip, Sun-Tzu
What news headline are we reacting to?
If I can go on TV and smirkingly lie to millions of people who know I'm lying and can't do a thing about it, that's a major power flex. I think they're more motivated by the flex than the content of the lies.
Food banks are some of the most donation-efficient charities around!
What's he done now? Or is this just a general daily affirmation?
Watch how they all flock like birds from "he would never do that, how dare you suggest otherwise" to "he's legally allowed to do that, how dare you suggest otherwise"
It seems like a lot of Dem types are capitulating to the idea that the brand needs to appeal to more meaty manly types.

I agree the Dems need to work on the longhouse problem, but disagree that tolerating "accidental" Nazi tattoos is the way to go about it.
Did Dinesh finally venture outside his basement and meet actual white people for the first time? Did he really think the right ever had any respect for any brown person that wasn't tied up in their utility as a token?
My best guess is that a lot of people weren't aware of the totenkopf as being an actual first-rank Nazi symbol and find it to be an understandable mistake. Rather than course-correct, they assume that most Americans share that ignorance, so it's more of a personal judgment.

Imagining: Going back to 2005 and telling myself that a Blackwater mercenary with a Nazi tattoo is running for Congress. As a Democrat. As the leftist. Oh and Donald Trump is president.
