Maybe, but to be fair, he has a very punch-able face in those photos: smug but "above it all," ready to announce that "it turns out you won't believe how wrong/bad you/they are," etc.

Teaching is really difficult, yes! I love it, but when I was doing it I often reflected that I had to work 10x as hard for 1/10 of the pay when compared to my tech job. And as faculty, you have so many more non-teaching obligations: committees, etc. 😩

Seconding this. Agoraphobia and anxiety disorders are likely best to focus on, since those are barriers to finding any alternative treatment options elsewhere.

It's also OK to say, "I'm glad you feel comfortable sharing your political beliefs with me, but I think we're getting off topic."

Can you unpack "I feel weird about it" a bit?

I don't think there's anything to feel guilty about, though–guilt implies you did something wrong, but there's nothing wrong with creating a Throne list just in case someone wants to brighten your day.
