specifically what they had equipped towards the end of my playthrough, yeah! with a couple exceptions because there was specific slightly weaker equipment I thought might look cooler (I think it was specifically something on Claire but I forget what. maybe the wand? it's been a couple years lol)

I've found it also helps, in combination with demystifying yourself a bit, to openly talk about the relationship you want with your audience too. like if you want folks to understand the kinds of parasocial behavior you're trying to avoid, then being clear about what they are and why is very helpful

I hope we get a proper explorers remake someday, even if it means 3D instead of charming and gorgeous spritework, just cuz I think some modern QoL tweaks would really help it be a nicer starting point overall. I played a romhack that updated some of that stuff and it's hard to imagine going back now

yeahh explorers def tosses you into the deep end a lil bit more and is just like "if you need to know anything, check the very robust help menus". I def think I prefer the modern approach of showing how a mechanic/status/item works the first time it comes up. HARD pass on the school stuff tho lol

genuinely I think I'm only so hard on Super BECAUSE I can't help but compare it directly alongside Explorers of Sky. if Super was my first-ever experience with this series, and I could at least push through Pokemon Kindergarten Hell, I'd probably have a really great time with it overall

like it's hard to say I FULLY feel like I wasted my time with this game cuz it genuinely has a lot of mechanical depth that I thought was quite fun! it was just kinda hard to ignore the story issues cuz I came into it FRESH off the back of replaying EoS and I got incredibly attached to those protags
