Electrolysis for facial hair removal/ SRS is vital to many transfeminine transitions. It is the only permanent method, and the only method suited for pale hair.

It is however difficult to access, as a full course can be lengthy (100~200 sessions) and costly (£10~20k).

Update: DBT replied claiming a public-interest extension and refusing an internal review while the case is active. We've demanded written, case-specific reasons, the exact exemption, an internal review now, and a firm final date of 16 Oct. We will complain to the ICO if they fail.

The department’s now over its legal deadline. We’ve requested an internal review for breach of FOIA and will escalate to the ICO if they keep dragging this out. Accountability shouldn’t take three months and two illegal extensions. /3

Under the Freedom of Information Act, departments have 20 working days to reply, and can extend once by another 20 days if a public interest test applies. DBT’s second “extension” isn’t lawful. It’s just stalling. 2/

We sent an FOI to the Department for Business and Trade back in August. They’ve now delayed twice, using the same copy-and-paste excuse, claiming they need more time for a “public interest test.” That takes it to 5 November. 1/
