New set of forest towns to be built between Oxford and Cambridge
www.theguardian.com/environment/... Well...it's ironic that when Natural England tried to protect the best wildlife areas of an Actual Forest (Bernwood) between Oxford and Cambridge, the Govt intervened and stopped them.

Communities in the middle of new national forest to show how housebuilding can be delivered alongside nature

"I walked in the North Holland dunes on Sunday, outside the contours. It was a constant racket from a steady stream of low-flying aircraft. Not being able to experience more relative silence anywhere else is a greatly underestimated problem, on top of the noise pollution in and around the house."

Germany seems worried about PFAS-4 levels in drinking water above 12ng/l. Almost getting frequent in my bit of London ?

WHO’s One Health Day reminds us our health and nature’s health are inseparable.
PFAS “forever chemicals” in our water prove the point.

Whether it's PFAS, pollution from fracking or purging for LNG, we seem to be expected to sit back and meekly accept the poisoning of our drinking water sources as an unfortunate side effect of industry making limitless profits
"Major Pfas pollution sources include airports, military sites,....."
Heathrow contribution :
Despite what I thought, Wikipedia on Hampton Water Treatment Works tells me that water is abstracted from the Thames and www.sheetpilinguk.com/hampton-wtw-... tells me about protecting the eel screens.
So Portlane Brook ( ?draining PFAS from west/south of Heathrow) does enter upstream of the inlet !
Meanwhile Thames Water have provided analyses of PFAS in the supply to my area. www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/pfas... Some results are rather higher than Jersey is trying to aspire to. PFOS 7ng/l ; PFOA 3ng/l
Not sure if this location was sampled in the study to identify PFAS hotspots.
The Environment Agency have released an earlier presentation on a survey for PFOS on the Heathrow airfield and in the River Crane. It also includes a more complete analysis of the other PFAS compounds discharged on two dates. The southern and western catchments drain into Thames via Portlane Brook.

I guess they don't have to replace the trees on the site they trashed ?

Rare Earths refinery at Saltend, Hull is over (nobody really surprised, environmental questions rehearsed by me endlessly on Twitter were never answered)

Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plays the same role in aviation as CCS/BECCS/DACCS play for other fossil-fuelled sectors: more a stalling tactic than solution. Good engineers work on SAF, but CEOs/politicians/etc deliberately mis-sell their role in mitigation.
