wish I could tell all the new arrivals "welcome, we block don't engage" but it's not really true any more. now we argue like a bunch of basic ass twitter users. we go into other people's mentions and carry on interminable arguments with zero laffs. welcome, we used to be cool

or is it all people basing their idea of therapy on pop culture, where the therapist is usually unethical, because that checks

wtf.. kids do totally fine sharing bedrooms, there's zero evidence that has a negative effect on development

quality foster care is a limited resource and you don't spend it on keeping kids away from loving families

i feel this in my bones.

This has a deeper thread that's common to an awful lot of experiences I've had. e.g. when people tell you you are lucky to be in school but you have ADHD and your teachers seem to hate you -- My school days were the worst years of my life

Not that this is a common offer, but don't accept a job that others would kill for if you wouldn't/didn't. The culture will be toxic in confusing ways and nobody will explain it.

self-help books from about 30 years ago had this thing where the whole introduction and some early chapters were dedicated to *how good this book you are reading is* and how clever

meanwhile in the last 10 years they don't even have introductions because they know people skip them
