I try to strike a balance between engineer brain wanting mathematically optimal P-51alikes and artist brain wanting Crimson Skies level complete stupidity. This one is flamboyant because it's made for a flamboyant character.
it's for a graphic novel called Sellsword that I'm working on (actually this one may be for like the 2nd or 3rd sequel, I suck at prioritizing my time)
It is spindly for sure. I probably need to make the tubes thicker. The whole nose gear assembly is like not even 4 feet long but it looks longer. It's not a very big plane!
Actually I might never even use the ground wheels in the story, 99% of the time it will use the airship docking hook.
It has both a fork to distribute the load, and dual retraction linkages. Admittedly I simplified the design a LOT, both to reduce the amount of stuff I needed to build/animate and bc adding a lot of detail would just get lost in a mess of line art at the intended viewing distance.
I wish more people would use hashtags for that kind of thing. I don't want to block someone's entire account because I don't like furry art, if I can just mute a tag and hide those specific posts instead.
The "infotainment" system should not use the same software package as anything safety-critical. And the latter shouldn't be able to receive OTA updates.
