Some of my favorite parts of today's stories.

Lute knew nothing of dinosaurs, so she had no idea what the iguanodon toy was, but she knew it couldn't have been one of the popular ones. “Here, I'll take her. I could use a friend myself.”

“Will you take care of her?” The little one said with skepticism fitting a five year old who wanted to make sure her new friend went to a good home.

“Yup. Promise.” To Lute’s surprise, she realized she meant it.

The dinosaur was handed over and Lute carefully held it in her hand. “She got a name?”

“Sarah.” Said the child.

“That's your name, Sarah.” Said the grandmother.

“We have the same name.”

Lute smiled. “I'll take good care of Sarah, Sarah.”

Next is getting ready to teach my first class, Basic Gobbo. Always an interesting class because many Goblins take it expecting it to be easy. Culturally Goblins lean towards anarchy. They come from a land full of evil fae, old school manipulative magic users, swamp, and everything seems to try and kill them. They're survivors in a land that tries to make sure they are not. As much as I admire their ability to survive I do wish they'd speak out in class less.

I also teach an advanced course later on, but next up is Basic Elven. A class mostly full of young girls. Elven is an incredibly complex language and I always have a few drop outs within the first few months, and always a few who idolize Elves as something to aspire too. This tends to make Elves uncomfortable. Please be careful.

Along with Advanced Elven later on the final language I teach this year is Ogren, which got a surge of interest after the movie 'Gigantic Hearts'. Personally I wasn't a fan of it. The main character seemed very manipulative and also spread the stereotype of dumb Ogre. Ogre are not dumb, but their language is very simple. So much so that when they learn to speak other languages they often speak in a manner that makes them appear dumb. That's just how their own language is. I currently don't teach an advanced course on this. I think the administration thinks it's a trend and I'm not sure I disagree. It's a shame. I enjoy this class.

My home looked much the same, though my view was occasionally blocked by cat fur, but much larger. Some pillars of black and gold raised to the ceiling I couldn't see, so I did the one thing that came to mind (besides screaming) and opened the door to look outside.

Nothing changed.

“Oh, sweet. My place now ignores the rules of physics! Always wanted a place with unnatural geometry.”

“Just look out for the whispering things in the-”

Angel came by with something in his mouth. A small thing made of darkness and madness. I grabbed a paper towel and took it from him before he could eat it and tossed it in the trash.

“Huh.” Nyan Nyan said as she began to stretch out and take on a new form.

“Yeah, he does that. I just got to make sure he doesn't eat any.”

I looked over at her, and now she was taller, with black fur and muscles. Her face and hair still the same, looking at me with that horrid and maddening eye.

“...Hot.”

She somehow rolled her eye despite only having one of them. I was super impressed. “Honestly how you can look upon me without being driven mad is still a mystery to me.”

“I've been heavily disassociating since we met.”

“So, what you're saying is you have been driven to madness and this is the result?”

“Probably. I'm a bit annoyed no one's noticed a difference though.”

Sometimes.... sometimes i just really want to reach through the phone, grab a telemarketer by the throat and ask them why they are such awful people trying to scam people.

Like i know some of it isn't their fault as its well known a lot of them are basically trafficking victims but still
