ooo i wanna keep playing through the castlevanias but i told myself i'd take a break.... hrrrrm....
despite me dunking on the story a lot bc generic shounen manga storyline overall the game is great, i would never put it over sotn though that game was almost perfect in my eyes. but this is like the only other one that had me all the way through.
aria of sorrow complete and stuff. it was way smaller and shorter than i expected it but it was fun, besides me getting lost for a full hour like usual. i didn't rewind or savestate more than maybe 3 or 4 times throughout the game too so it was easier than circle of moon by a landslide

killed chaos, killed me a couple times but it was cool,, especially visually. the story might be the weakest part of the whole game haha but soma's dracula-ness is a fun idea.
ok the final "we all banded together to encourage you!" moment pissed me off it's sooo generic shounen anime holy shit 😭😭😭😭i guess it's fine...
im glad that soma's actually torn up about having dracula slowly try to take over his body though but that's bare minimum
i wish i got the black panther soul way earlier being able to dash around makes backtracking and thing-finding way less cumbersome
this is way cooler than the non-true ending though, i like it a lot more even if soma isnt really a character yet. maybe that'll change in dawn of sorrow.
why is he mogging (forewarning i got spoiled of soma's dracula-ness from a random psot on a forum 11 years ago when i was searching for what i was supposed to do for this ending) the music is real nice in this scene.

Soma Cruz: Finally... I clearly understand... everything. I am... Dracula.
ok i got an ending but it felt wrong so i googled and yea i gotta get a couple souls before i can get a better one so i'll do that. this game was a lot shorter than i thought it would be.

after aria of sorrow i'm gonna take a week-long break before i start the ds games, as fun as soma is i dont know if he's fun enough to play for a second game right off the bat.
i think circle of the moon really shot down my motivation to get through this castlevania-thon i put on myself, that and learning that the composer michiru yamane of the games from bloodlines onward spouted insane trumpian stolen election conspiracy theories 5 years ago. i'm enjoying AoS but man.
the end of the true ending is also a product of that too.

again, castlevania's narrative and story never been that compelling so its not a big demerit and this stuff is just more plain to see with narrative more at the forefront than ever. i miss alucard being suicidal and nathan being an idiot :(
the character writing might be the most generic shounen anime thing ever down to soma not really seeming to have a personality and women being done dirty/being accessories :) the gameplay is super fun but the latent misogyny in the writing is clear, though sotn making maria hint at liking alucard at
ngl the plot and characters are so incredibly anime and i can't say i like that very much but also castlevania's narrative is not usually very compelling in the first place so no biggie
the castle in desrepair (specifically the entrance) is super cool tbh, seeing the entrance i went through in sotn and other games this disheveled makes me feel a type of way
I just wanted a break from not enjoying myself 🥹 ill go back to it when i do my second round of playing the inbetween games i didn't play (simon's quest, the gb games, dracula x, kid dracula, and now harmony of disonnance) to give it a fair shot later. i'll do the 3d games sometime in the future too.
especially coming off of circle of moon that i also didnt like the look of, (although the feeling of playing the game in that as well as audio was perfectly good)

I definitely would have been more open to going through harmony if i didn't come off of a game that i already very much didn't like.
alright starting up aria of sorrow and jsut gamefeel-wise si very sotn, but sotn feels good so this also feels good to play. the visuals are also the best one out of the 3 LMAO i wish i stayed with harmony but i was not ready to play a game that i didnt enjoy the look, feel and sound of.
ok im dropping this because i feel like i wont enjoy it also the crunchy poop music is gonna drive me insane, ill come back later
why are the colours so washed out on harmony of dissonance.
