Regular smell and taste testing could aid early detection of impairments that negatively impact health, safety, and quality of life, and could also reveal underlying disease. But how do we get there? This new whitepaper is out today:
Towards Universal Chemosensory Testing: Needs, Barriers and Opportunities

If you are reducing figures such that they can only be read when you zoom in on screen, that is fundamentally what you are doing. Figures should be fully legible without magnification.
I’m sorry, but not only is that unfair to other PIs if you try to circumvent page limits like that, but a clear, well-thought out data figure (or model figure) is going to do a lot more to support rationale/feasibilty of your study than a couple extra sentences might.
This descendent of Greek immigrants who decided to take on a German surname very much appreciated this thread.
@dieworkwear.bsky.social I’ve noticed men’s sport coats/suit coats are lately using two side vents instead of a single centered vent on the back. Is this a current fashion trend, a preference rooted in manufacturing advantages, or something else? Frankly, I prefer the look of the single vent. Thanks

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

The truly tough guys don’t have to tell anyone that they are tough. The craven cowards, on the other hand…
Stephen Miller: "All that bullshit is done, over, it's finished. The gangbangers you deal with- they think they're ruthless? They have no idea how ruthless we are. They think they're tough? They have no idea how tough we are. They think they're hardcore? We are so much more hardcore than they are"
I was disappointed you didn’t say The Rocky Horror Picture Show (given the 50th anniversary).
That’s not good, but unfortunately may not be unique. I’ve seen the expectation that employer plans are just going to be going up everywhere.
I haven’t seen it yet. But am now dreading looking.

Ponderosa pine smells like butterscotch.

Go ahead, sniff one the next time you're in the western US. Some say "vanilla", some say "oh no, my nose is covered in sap."

Let's talk about birds, butterscotch, forest fires, blue wood, & boring beetles.

But mostly this thread is about terpenes.
From a blog called "CreationsDawn", a photo of the author smelling a ponderosa pine. The author wears a green cap, light blue-green shirt and red camel pack. They are sniffing a tree with pine bark, with a sort of red-orange color. More trees in the background.
Due to Virginia state law, my daughter and I drove to Maryland yesterday to get the vaccine at a CVS. We just had to attest on the appointment site that we had high risk conditions (this is the case, but specifics weren’t required).

Hegseth is now the Secretary of War, which is fitting I guess as RFK jr is basically the Secretary of Pestilence. We just need Famine and Death to round it out.
I had so much of that wrong
Ok its ‘feed it off an aux, speak, grunt no strength, the ladder start to clatter with fear fight down height, wire in a fire representing seven games, a government for hire and a combat site’.

A few days ago I learned you can skip the AI summary feature in Google by adding "-AI" to your search. I love it!
I am very tempted to apply…

this is so wonderfully weird, give her all the golds 🥇
You should have sent yours across the country…
Thankfully, ours moved herself from old apartment to new apartment back in June (no gap in the leases helped there).

Ok, she did conscript a couple friends to help, but the key thing was no parental involvement.
