Happy John Brown’s Raid day to all who celebrate
The people whining that they "don't do anything" fail to understand that implied consent is key to fascist states. People assume they have majority support if nobody speaks out, which is why they silence dissent.

Protests like No Kings takes away the implied consent.
I'm disappointed in folks, flipping them off is uncreative and they'll just feel persecuted. Gotta go with the loser "L"
People moved on from Man's Best Friend way to fast. It's a funny album and Sabrina Carpenter is a fun lyricist.
Legalized gambling is a fucking necrotic wound in the American psyche. And instead of treating it we're encouraging the spread.
CNN is covering prediction market odds from an online casino as if it’s actual polling data
Moving to PA from FL meant my produce went from 6-9 out of 10 every time to 3-7 out of 10.

Except for Costco.
That's a Lotta words to say: "He was a fascist propagandist who radicalized young Pennsylvanians into supporting white nationalism and Christian dominionism."
State Sen. Joe Picozzi (R., Philly) wants to make conservative commentator Charlie Kirk's birthday, Oct. 14, an official commonwealth holiday. "Although his life was cut short, Charlie’s profound impact has been undeniably felt by Pennsylvanians of all beliefs and backgrounds."
They're covering national news and get reposted by other accounts with a national following (and when that happens it's 2 taps to get to a bio).

Their name doesn't indicate that they're a local outlet.

Not sure why y'all are so put off by my saying they should follow basic journalism rules.
Shit, here is a thread about the stand-off that shows how it's done. Who, what, when, where, why.

masked federal agents used multiple canisters of tear gas + other chemical munitions on a crowd of residents in chicago's southeast side around 12:40 p.m.

neighbors had gathered on a residential intersection following a morning during which dozens of border patrol agents terrorized the community.
tear gas billows from canisters in a residential intersection, at 105th street and south avenue north, on chicago's southeast side.
This is news reporting 101 stuff. I passed that more than a decade ago.
I don't think that every journalist needs to have gone to school for it, but far too many folks out there are ignorant of the basics of good journalism.

I just got blocked for saying that including the broader location of a stand off between ICE and a neighborhood is important.
A journalist is responsible for providing adequate context to their reporting. "From Chicago" in their profile isn't adequate context.
We're talking about basic good journalism.
Provide who, what, when, where & (hopefully) why. They provided 4 out of 5, but that fifth is pretty important online.
Which is an extra step people won't take. You should never make it harder for readers/viewers to understand context.
Naming the city/town/neighborhood is basic good web journalism.
People have been confusing events in Portland & Chicago because of laziness like this so it isn't just a hypothetical.
This ain't about coverage, it's about clarity of reporting. You've got a global audience that may not think to check your profile. Save them a step and be clear.

Besides, what happens if this is going down in multiple areas? People have to know the streets and neighborhoods of a whole MSA?
You did nothing wrong. Local outlets need to adapt to having a global audience and include a dateline on things like this. It ain't that hard.
I always forget about that one, thank you.
Used to be the billionaires at least sicked their newspapers on the competition. Now they have class awareness.
Walt Disney World employees more people than the entire American coal industry.
Anytime I have to read business writing I get so mad at Strunk & White. Along with business colleges. So many words to say so little.
Do you not know #duuuval? Have you never seen Trevor Lawrence? We already have Sexy Trev, we're no sharing the good word.
Somebody call science; we've found the most rational Philly sports fan!
Emotions are high right now so I’m going to try to keep this rational and level headed: No Philadelphia sports team will win again until we kill and eat one of the players.
Same goes for journalists, especially ones from "directional" schools
if you're not where you want to be as an artist or entertainer and didn't come from money or an industry family try to remember that it was never an even playing field to begin with and you're probably doing great considering
I'm in a Philly bar and this guy keeps referring to Florida State as Florida. It's painful and offensive.
