it’s crazy to think that TRON is still named after Bruce Boxleitner’s character in the first movie, who has not appeared since, rather than Jeff Bridges’ character, who has been in all three. The franchise ought to be called KEVIN

Though not as disappointed when I wasn't allowed to go on the cricket tour of Australia, despite having my half colours*, because "Australians can do maths".

*for being the scorer. I was good scorer. Terrible cricketer.

Is this the time to admit I recall being disappointed when our school trip to Legoland and Windsor Castle became a school trip to just Legoland on account of a booking error?

I think I got too close to getting him to realise that his desire to ethnically cleanse somewhere on account of the fact he refused to acknowledge that foreigners have agency might make him a racist.
stephencobden.bsky.social
If you wanted the money to be better spent, campaign for Argentina to renounce its claim. Or are people slightly darker in skin tone than Martin Bell's suit not permitted agency? In any case, "I want a treat" is not a good argument for permitting ethnic cleansing.

So now you wish to ethnically cleanse the island. You really are a hopeless amoral piece of shit

Generally, "I should have rights and they should be defended, but *insert group here* (in this case Falkland Islanders) shouldn't" is a far right position.
stephencobden.bsky.social
So why are you against using the military to defend the lives and human rights of British citizens? Why is it acceptable for Galtieri to sacrifice the lives of Argentinians to do this, which he did for the stated purposes of shoring up his regime?
stephencobden.bsky.social
You really don't know much about the Falkland's War, do you? Or are you so right wing that you do not believe in concepts such as human rights, and the fact that such might require defending?
stephencobden.bsky.social
You both failed to notice the word "yes" at the beginning, and fail to realise the person you are describing there is Galtieri.
stephencobden.bsky.social
Yes, but it shouldn't be necessary. The Argentinians shouldn't be sacrificing their young to subjugate people in a war of Imperial conquest.

The sin of Imperialism is the denial of the right to self determination, not "map messy"

Very helpful for expanding the blocklist, however.

Is there a competition going on for the most bollocks spouted about WWII going on at the moment that the sane are unaware of?
stephencobden.bsky.social
Would dumping a bucket of sand on them help, or would this cause some foreseeable consequence?
stephencobden.bsky.social
Three of the four. I don't think Dr No counts.

One of only four Bond movies that could be accurately described as spy movies.

The incentive offered by Blueticks to farm engagement incentivised rage bait to such an extent that twitter became little more than a machine that makes you feel angry. Why would one willingly step into such a contraption?

Hence, for consistency, the next Lara Croft should be played by Cheryl Surnameofthemonth

The Allies consisted of Liberal Democracies, Imperialist Liberal Democracies, Imperial Subjects, Communists, Different Communists, Absolute Monarchies, Military Dictatorships, Civilian Dictatorships and even Quasi-Fascists all fighting against Fascism.
stephencobden.bsky.social
That's not fair. Nobody played Imperator.
stephencobden.bsky.social
No? This isn't me being difficult, I genuinely can't remember all the details and, even at the time, trying to gain an understanding of his lunacy was quite an undertaking.

Honestly, so bonkers it would be hard to do it justice. In summary: D-Day didn't matter as the Soviets were in Berlin already, it was far smaller than "they" claim as they couldn't fit on a beach, and Hampshire doesn't exist.
stephencobden.bsky.social
And they were specially made for the Soviet rail network (different gauge) - they weren't just chucking old soon to be scrapped 4-4-0s at them.

Once again, Britsky and Yanksky - often at odds - are united against a 14 year old twitter communist who denigrates the US involvement in WWII. Love to see it.
