It's always the guards. Look at what they make and look at how some of them live. It's not hard to figure out where at least some of them are making up the difference.

I think this is what it looks like when an entire country is taken over by private equity. Everything of value is stripped and sent out the back door while debts and liabilities accumulate. Then everyone in the ownership group disappears with their money while the country collapses.

Seems like it might be time for the president of this whole Republican institution to appear in front of Congress and then resign.

Every day I check the news and every day I see a headline that is basically, "BREAKING: Actions have predictable consequences."

The problem you have there is that the rest of the world has spent the last 75 years being told by many Americans that America is the best country in the world because the people choose their leaders, not like in other grubby third world shitholes.

So there's a legacy you're working against there.

"Boys will be boys", in response to 30 year olds with careers shrieking Nazi talking points.

Fortunately, Canada has the best syrup detectives in the world.

I'm sure she's very concerned, or deeply concerned, or maybe even gravely concerned.

I'm not surprised it's a Koei game. My obsession was Nobunaga's Ambition.

Congratulations on the perfect run! Which commander were you playing?

Cyberpunk 2020 did dip into that by letting you get more cyberware with the tradeoff being that it put you in debt to a corporation, organized crime, or some other third party. I always thought this was better for both world building and telling stories, and always wished they had pushed that more.

Yeah, it's not just China. Trump started a trade war with pretty much every country on earth, and one of China's biggest advantages here is that the USA can't call on its traditional allies or appeal to the international community at large.

America First = America Alone.

At this point, I think a lot of countries would trust China over the USA. At least China acts in a generally logical and understandable manner, whereas the USA is being governed by a mentally-deficient criminal with the attention span of a toddler.

Who knew that when you start a trade war, the other side gets to fight back?

Has anyone checked on Mrs. Johnson lately?

That's the thing they're most terrified of. That their supporters will see footage of the protests and see it's just a bunch of people who look like them and their families.

I think shame can be effective, but not when it's coming from the people already deemed the enemy. Shame only works when it comes from within one's own peer groups, and in this case, the entire peer group is rotted through.

Bit of a motto change from "Home of the free, land of the brave."

There's always a long list of people who claim to have left a bar before it turned into a Nazi bar.

But they're all from different points on the timeline, leading you to wonder when the bar even found time to become a Nazi bar.

So now that ChatGPT is offering erotica, all the card processors should refuse to authorize subscription charges, right? 😒 Or was this only about the people using something to make money and not a corporation?

I really loved how he said it was a very small part of his finances.

It must be great to have nearly a million dollars be such a small part of your finances, but I don't think it's the great defensive play he thinks it is.

The rich and powerful will always find a reason why the rich and powerful can't answer for their crimes. Always.
