Good morning. Non-native pretties in Grand Marais MN. Most businesses and houses are planted up and looking fabulous for midOctober.

He repeatedly used racial slurs to refer to Black people, including words such as “n–ga” and “n–guh.” In a July conversation in the thread about African-Americans, he said, “Bro is at a chicken restaurant ordering his food. Would he like some watermelon and Kool-Aid with that?”

There's a gas station in Two Harbors MN that sells Guy Fieri food. I feel like The Mr. is really slacking off on his cultural news job because I knew nothing about this.

Be wary of promises that are not in writing.

FYI: SLDC has 30 days to review projects for which St. Louis Midtown Redev. Corp.* wants to authorize tax abatement. SLDC's review is conducted in secret.

The #ArmoryTIF district is eligible for up to 25 years tax abatement.

This whole proposal is a mess in a myriad of ways, and I don't trust the tax generation numbers at all, but it is good to see a rather firm swearing off of tax abatement by SLU/Midtown Redevelopment. BoA should terminate the existing TIF encompassing the site, though.

Good evening. Today we went to Two Harbors MN on the shores of Lake Superior. We did not have time for the historic lighthouse but we did have time to do laundry and lunch at 😋 Madeira madeira-bistro.com. Highly recommend.

I had the Autumn Harvest Bowl: kale, wild rice, roasted sweet potatoes, shredded beet, crisp apples, red onion, candied walnuts & a side of orange-balsamic dressing. I don't eat dressing but it sure did smell goog. The Mr. had the Catch on Rye sandwich: Grilled wild Alaskan salmon, Tuscan-herb cream cheese, artichokes, red onion, arugula on grilled pumpernickel. The sandwich has sliced tomatoes but The Mr. doesn't eat raw tomatoes and the restaurant was happy to hold those. He also got a pickle and chips.

It's done this way, a process, because most people do not believe it should be easy to overturn a decision by voters. Unless you're MAGA #moleg of course.

We are totally fine with restaurants adding 20% service charge/tip, as this one says it does up front. But it occurred to me this may be a thing at that place because people unhappy about the restaurant being way different from reviews were stiffing servers. You should never stiff the server imo.

Good afternoon from Lake Superior @ Baptism River, Tettegouche State Park MN

Declined to be sprinkled or dipped. Mostly Lutheran churches on North Shore. Soliciting baptisms seems odd for them, so I don't know who these people are.

It's wild that SLDC & the BOA went along with Cepeda's tax abatement package for the Melbourne, despite his obvious lack of capacity to execute the project.

#LCRAstl approved the #3601Lindell tax abatement, despite being informed of Cepeca's debts to the city pertaining to other properties.

Not that anybody comes to me for Maine politics, but the fact that the Democrats successfully convinced a 77yo Governor to primary the 41yo progressive, is today's example of why the Democrats fucking stay failing.

Susan Collins is 72 and if Schumer gets his way, she'll be the YOUNGER choice!
stateofstlouis.bsky.social
Midtown said it wouldn't support tax abatement. That's not the same as the developer swearing off it as well as other incentives.

St. Louis City Alders have no history for holding developers to their words.

There's more to this. Bank on it.

🤬 #BB82 is a Downtown land grab by a developer
Fiscal Note written by lobbyist David Sweeney for St. Louis City Board of Aldermen legislation Summary

Board Bill Number 82

Introduced by Alderman Rasheen Aldridge

October 10, 2025

This Board Bill seeks to authorize and direct the Mayor and Comptroller of the City of St. Louis to quit claim to 900 N Tucker Building, LLC, a Missouri limited liability company, its successors and assigns, an affiliate and subsidiary of The StarWood Group, LLC, a Missouri limited liability company, those certain parcels of real estate belonging to the City of St. Louis located at 1134 and 1138 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, forming portions of the plaza commonly known as "Interco Plaza", the balance of which is already owned by 900 N Tucker Building, LLC.

The proposed Bill will have a positive impact on the community, as it will help promote local commercial activity and generate tax revenue for the City of St. Louis.
