If Pitt spent $750 million on a stadium (plus parking) taking up very scarce real estate and used only a few times a year and people still didn't come because it's a giant PITA to get there I would consider that possibly a worse situation.

This is not the slam dunk.

There is maybe a single parking lot in Oakland that is the size of one at Acrisure.

They just tore down an eight-story parking structure to build the new student rec center so now there's actually even less parking that before.

Money aside, parking is easily the biggest roadblock.

On campus stadium woul make it easier for students to attend the games but certainly not for general fans.

I'm not talking about atmosphere which obviously would be better with the smaller more intimate stadium, but the logistics of getting to the game would be far far worse for general admission

I'm not saying I wouldn't want it but the writer is right. The issue is with the general fans who never show up. Yes the students leave early but they are full at kickoff. General admission people never even get to the game.

An on-campus stadium would have a nightmare parking situation.
