Noting that the photo on the left is ICE pepper-spraying the same minister who they also shot in the forehead on a separate occasion with a pepperball, so it's decidedly not an accident and empirical proof that they're going after people who aren't violent or threatening.

Has she (or anyone else) positively identified him?
spsnomad.bsky.social
Once that happens, I hope she starts carrying a copy of the oath of office, the certified election results and a bible with her and shadowing his appearances. Pick a good one with a lot of press, ambush him and ask why he's protecting Epstein's collaborators.

My understanding is that the Arizona Secretary of State can't certify her until tomorrow (there's a mandated waiting period under AZ state law) and, at one point, Republicans said they were going to wait for that. Petty, but legally valid.

Timing for Grijalva’s swear-in in question
Adelita Grijalva won CD 7 this week but is feeling some suspense over when she’ll be sworn in and whether that will be delayed in a way that will keep her from making some important votes.

Additionally, they don't need to be in session to swear in Adelita Grijalva and the ONLY thing where she would be a deciding vote would be the discharge petition. No other reason to delay.

Just thinking that the advice around passports has always been to keep in in a safe place and only carry it when traveling internationally because it's such a hassle if it gets lost or stolen, and I'd imagine it's the same for immigration documents.

Wondering if any of the people who got really good at projecting messages onto government buildings know anything about holograms and could put together something that looks like a ghost, specifically three of them. Make the ghost of grifting past Roy Cohn. TIA.

It would be so much easier for him to just tell the people who sell him ketamine to stop and leave everyone else out of it.

The truth is, a lot of these guys are bullies who peaked in high school and it's got to be causing to see the kind of people they once dominated showing up and fearlessly dancing it out in a unicorn getup, and it makes them look REALLY ridiculous on TV.

Portland is absolutely demoralizing ICE -- they go out masked up, armed to the teeth and it's against a bunch of ukelele-playing grannies and a dance party full of inflatable woodland creatures. I'm convinced they're one sick, 8-minute Dancing on my Own remix away from packing it all in.

Pretty sure I say this every Columbus Day, but getting hauled back to Spain for excessive brutality in 1500, just as the Inquisition was really getting fired up, is some genuinely Evil Guys Hall of Infamy material

Especially because all spending is an Article I/legislative power. He might want to look into that.

True, but the standard is short blasts for “spotted them” and long blasts for “they’re detaining someone” — it’s easy to remember and no reason to over complicate things.

If anyone has any neighborhood-specific flyers (in our case, Edgewater/Rogers Park/Uptown/Andersonville), let me know and we’ll put them in the next batch.

We're currently assembling packets containing a whistle and the instructions (quick blasts for ICE spotted, long for ICE detaining someone.) Here's what we're using. (Thanks to Pilsen Arts & Community House for the flyer design in English and Spanish)

We might all just get around this if we can get three ghosts to visit him.

Pro tip to the remaining soldiers: Hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, pizza puffs and deep dish are absolutely delicious and if you really get on it and eat a lot of them, you might put on enough weight to be sent home where everyone doesn't resent your existence.

Does feel like we should warn Florida that they're about to get an influx of the shittiest cops imaginable.

Or, even better, give the extra time to your next guest, Gov. Pritzker.

Pritzker: "You just heard a tidal wave of lies from the VP. It's a bit shocking. And you heard over & over him just making things up. There's a reason why the judge here in federal court said that they admin lacks credibility and why even the Nobel committee chair said the admin lacks integrity."

Who was President that day, Pumpkin?????
spsnomad.bsky.social
I'm fine with ending the interview early and spending the extra time in the roundtable at the end of the show discussing what a slippery weasel the Vice President is and how his refusal to answer a simple question insults the intelligence of the American people.
spsnomad.bsky.social
I like what Stephanopolous did here, though. Kept asking the same question, let Vance offer up the weak defense that we hate Homan because he's enforcing the law, kept at it and finally ended the interview on a note of disgust.
spsnomad.bsky.social
Glad he did this, I'm waiting for even more scolding - "Look, we know exactly what I'm talking about and you're smarter than this. It's a simple yes or no question. Did Tom Homan accept $50,000 in a bag. YES OR NO"

[Vance filibusters]

"And you didn't answer the question and we're done here."
