But also, I survived an eviction that was purely centered around ableism and anti-Indigenous sentiment. I’ve continued to write, despite the terrors.

I’ve watched my Indigenous family grow and succeed.

That is what this day is for.

Outside of the Paizosphere, I wrote on Welcome to Night Vale and was overjoyed at the reaction to it and some of my inventions 🥰

I did a wonderful interview at GalaxyCon Raleigh and had a great talk about Indigenous liberation at Nuke-Con in Council Bluffs.

Kiwat is a love letter to my youth in a way that I’ve never really gotten to write it before. The citizens work at night and rest in the day, there are moth, javelina, and bat ancestries, there are divinities that refuse to acknowledge who they are, and there are lots and lots of different citizens.

I wanted to build a space that feels like it centers SW Native culture and history. The towns and languages are named with the Caddo language in mind, the citizens of the nation primarily worship nature versus standard gods, the mythos is written to our standards and morals.

On my own, I’ve slowly been building up my own personal Pathfinder 2nd Edition 3pp setting, the world of Kiwat through my Tumbleweed project.

I haven’t spoken too much about Kiwat, but it’s the culmination of a lifetime of writing and experience put to paper.

Through PFS, I was able to offer an Indigenous view into the prairies of Arcadia, and through AP #208 I was able to breathe new life into the Shoanti.

In First Edition SFS I was given the chance to explore Indigenous sovereignty and repatriation through the strix and pahtra struggles.

Over the past 4 years with Paizo I’ve not only been able to put MY unique Native voice into various projects, I’ve also been able to work with and bring other Native voices into the fold, ensuring that we have a diversity of Indigenous thought throughout our product lines.

It’s Indigenous Peoples Day!
And instead of recentering it by talking about one of our many oppressors and how bad he is, I’m going to celebrate my own personal Native achievements!!
