I never learned how to do art digitally, so I always work with traditional media, usually pencils (graphite and colored), pens, Sharpies, and alcohol markers.

Here’s a few pieces I’ve done over the past year, to give you an idea:
Pencil-only illustration of a rose bush. I did this to pass the time while on a flight from Atlanta to Seattle. Illustration of Hololive English VTuber Nerissa Ravencroft, made in multiple steps with pencil, black Sharpie, gel pens, alcohol markers, and colored pencils for added texture. Illustration of an original character, done with pencil, gel pens, and colored pencils. Art of Seattle Sounders player Albert Rusnák, done on a flash card using only gel pens and Sharpies, aside from an initial pencil sketch.
"Here he got himself some balls and failed big time."

(Which I usually quote whenever I make a mistake.)
Fuck it, quote this with an obscure quote you think most people won't know.

"Every time you do a sit-up, eat six cups of ramen!"

Well, game three hasn’t been very fun to watch.

One black eye won’t ruin a series, but still. Yaeza.
Well, I guess you gotta play the game to find out hahah
Since when did you learn to clone yourself, amiga?

While I don’t play it anymore, I’ve been wanting to draw Seattle from Azur Lane wearing a Mariners uniform, since it’s been my first year actively following and supporting the M’s.

And I figured now was an opportune time, given how fantastic they’ve been. 😄

Alcohol marker and gel pen illustration of the character Seattle from the video game Azur Lane, wearing a teal Seattle Mariners uniform. She’s depicted standing on second base at T-Mobile Park and lifting up her batting helmet in a salute to the crowd. Additional details and textures were added with pencil and colored pencils.

A small easter egg is featured on the video screen in the background: Julio Rodríguez’s 44 is shown in reference to Seattle having a skill in Azur Lane named “No-Fly Zone!”, just as J-Rod has his own No-Fly Zone in T-Mobile Park.
Side note: I tried using cardstock instead of typical printer paper this time around, to see if my alcohol markers would blend better.

I think they did, but the thicker paper also seems to be susceptible to indents from heavier line work. 🤔

But I ain’t a professional, so what do I know?

WIP update: Ink has dried, background rough has been added.

I’ll try to see if I can get the coloring and detailing done today, as well.

I do, when I make pizza bagels 👌
Ngl, my first thought was Arcade Gannon from Fallout New Vegas.

Which, hey, not a bad way to go.
Progress[?]

I will admit, I’m rushing this a bit because part of me wants it done before tonight’s game.
Or, at the very least, everything besides the coloring.
Work in progress of an illustration depicting the character Seattle from the video game Azur Lane dressed in a Seattle Mariners uniform and giving a salute with a batter’s cap. The concept sketch is beside it on a flash card.
Always enjoy seeing one of the city’s teams showing some love for another like this ☺️
GOOD. VIBES. ONLY. 🔱

The whole squad wanted in on the @mariners.com-inspired goal celly!
Guess I gotta work on the full piece after last night, huh?
Ngl, I feel for 'em
Two franchises with not a lot of recent success fighting tooth and nail in that game. It was bound to go down to the wire.
I sat through all five and a half hours of it, and I am so full of adrenaline right now, that I could probably point at something and it would violently explode
Y’all better not
I want a Mariners-Brewers World Series so bad
THE MARINERS ADVANCE
THE MARINERS ADVANVE AFTER FIFTWEN INNINGS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA—
This has been my first season paying proper attention to the M’s, and I’m fully convinced this game is where I realize that I have passed the point where I could have quit.

No, I have chosen to stay on this ship.
I’m at point where I’m needing to remind myself to breathe, good lord
I’m going to have a stroke watching this Mariners game, cripes almighty

Extra innings with elimination on the line—anyone on the M’s, please just get a run
Practice rough for later.
Gonna do the full thing with alcohol markers, but for now, I’m just penciling out the basic idea and shaking off some rust.
Pencil and gel pen concept sketch of the character Seattle from Azur Lane, depicted in a Seattle Mariners uniform, removing and lifting up her batting helmet just off-frame. This user made this to be referenced for a more detailed and polished illustration at a later date.
Found out this morning that I have a bunch of cardstock that I don’t even remember getting.

And you know what, it’s good for alcohol markers, so that might just be an unexpected perk.

No more using printer paper that feathers and bleeds instead of blending.
