Also when this mentality goes unchecked I think it can result in artists being kind of petty and competitive with each other where the natural end point is pseudo legalistic squabbles about “art style theft”

Each is its own pursuit that has its place ofc, but when the wires start to cross is where the ennui comes from imo and the social media landscape encourages us to conflate the two

I think that often when hobbyists fret about their “art style” unwittingly or not they mean it in a way that’s synonymous with “brand identity”
It’s worth interrogating whether the concern is with your personal enjoyment of your craft or your desire to stand out in the attention economy
