Realised today that our trip to France on Saturday will be our first post-Brexit trip to Europe.

Still, blue passports, eh?

It's a very boring answer, I know, but for me it has to be the vibes and trumpets of ATV's "Zoom 2".

Among the many great things Angela Morley did, this simple 8 note fanfare ranks among the very best.

That comment about "do you know what sedentary" means made me snap a pen in utter rage. How downright sodding patronising and rude.

I hope you will be launching a full and frank complaint about this.

Probably not a suprise to anyone at all, but I am absolutely LOVING all the phone number discourse on here today!

I would say so; it's already by far the superior song.

So do all these frog costumes being worn in Portland mean that We All Stand Together is now a more relevant peace anthem than Imagine?

One of Spray's support acts from the gig on Friday - I really enjoyed his cover of OMD's "Messages"!

I do employ at least one of them for this very purpose!

Dixons in Witney is also stuck in my head because it was almost exactly the same as my number when I lived in the town but with the fourth and fifth digits transposed, and the number of irate messages I had left on my answer machine about faulty DVD players was remarkably high!

Sometimes I wish all the old phone numbers I DO have stored in my brain would leave so that I could remember new things.

I mean, some of them I've never even had any cause to ring but thanks to TV advertising they're stuck there.

I'm looking at you, Sellafield visitor centre...

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

"Banned"? Well, that would be telling :)

(as we're both busy tonight we did stuff last night, we were both out of spoons somewhat after a busy week so we just had a takeaway)

And to the fine #forgotten80s faithful, it's been lovely to see the week out with you once more.

Will be over in France next week visiting Kit's parents - may not be around (wish us luck, as we'll be having the convo with them) so see you in a fortnight! Until then, love and big hugs to you all!

Thank you @matthewjrudd.bsky.social for another fine #forgotten80s tonight

I also had a pager! And yes, I can still remember the number of it, although I guess you're not at all surprised by that revelation! #forgotten80s

(and yes, I KNOW Lay Your Hands On Me predates the Mega Drive by a good 7 years or so. Just an observation of how similar they sound to my ears.

Hopefully that's good enough for any passing Bluesky police, ready to pounce on people to shout at them for sins like not giving context to their posts)

"Zambezi" always makes me smile whenever I hear it, and sometimes that's all you need in a song.

(it's maybe a good thing that @littlegreyboat.bsky.social isn't currently hearing this, as they always end up with it as an earworm for days afterward!) #forgotten80s
