unsurprisingly, feels like my boss is haunting this whole event

he would've had fun. makes me regret not pushing for us to go to this conference in 2022 or 2023

okay, so it turns out my 40 year old ass cannot handle DDR on standard difficulty anymore
and my poor report writer, who is the sort of person who naturally goes to bed at 9pm and wakes up at 5am, is just slowly crumbling away to dust with the the timezone change and daylight savings ending and a full day of loud, crowded rooms of strangers
the urge to just stay in my hotel room in my pajamas and keep working, and *not* go down to dinner ;_;

Ugh. Had to get a new car battery. The payment was not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but still hefty. So, uh, I'm gonna kindly push my ko-fi and say if anyone wants to boost and/or donate, it'd be appreciated: ko-fi.com/N4N79LWP

Don't cross a picket line.
BREAKING: After months of stonewalling by Starbucks, unionized baristas just voted 92% to authorize a ULP strike unless Starbucks finalizes fair contracts & stops union busting.

If forced, our baristas will strike in dozens of cities on November 13 – the company's busiest sales day of the year.
Starbucks unionized workers say they'll strike on Nov. 13 if coffee giant doesn't finalize contract
Union members say they are ready to strike on the chain's Red Cup Day if Starbucks doesn't finalize a contract with their union by then.

Dick Cheney was proud to have normalized state-sponsored torture. That, and the dead of Iraq in an unjust war, constitute his entire legacy. “That’s not funny” is a meme-y cliche but I don’t care about the friend he shot or our jokes about it. Cheney is Kissinger level. He made the world worse.
also the last one of these I went to was with my old boss, but now *I* am the senior team member and fuck if that isn't the most surreal, impostor-syndrome-inducing feeling imaginable
I mean, I was already anxious about this trip.

i am a fully functional adult and a competent professional in my field but the thought of seeing all of these people in person makes me feel like a stupid kid who can't manage basic small talk
it's really the flight home that I'm more concerned about, because o'hare is...not fun. and it'll be a tight turnaround from the end of the conference.
I have to fly to Chicago for work tomorrow and I'm seeing horror stories about the airports

the last time I had to fly somewhere for work I missed my flight so now I am just gonna sit here and be ANXIOUS

BDSM Slab, my beloved...
When life gets tough, all I have to think about is the BDSM Slab and all is right in the world.
the vpn is just part of the job, really, but for whatever reason it just randomly stops working on the laptop. like, buddy, c'mon. this is your home. this is the network you came from. why don't you recognize it. why won't you connect to it. I'm Adam Sandler yelling at the golfball here.
