that and point production. Those guys should (hopefully!) be pretty productive on the PP again, something that Danault line never really was. It's one thing to be great at 5v5, it's another to be great at 5v5 and add 20-30 PP points each, rather than half that.

I think we should expect them to have a very good regular season but I have no idea if that will translate to a Cup Final appearance. We'll find out in 7-8 months.

since the start of 2023-24, they have a higher 5v5 goal share than Hagel-Point-Kucherov, Barbashev-Eichel-Stone, Panarin-Trocheck-Lafrenière, and Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi, to name a few.

they really remind me of the old Tatar-Danault-Gallagher line where they were consistently excellent year after year, especially relative to their team, and never get (or got) the recognition for it

the five non-CAR forwards in the top-15: Montreal's top line, Marco Rossi, and... Matt Rempe?

i know, i know, it's still early, but i found this funny: 324 forwards have at least 30 minutes at 5v5. overall, 15 of those 324 forwards have a shot attempt share of at least 63%. Of those 15 forwards, a different Hurricanes forward is 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th, and 14th.

don't doubt it but I don't want to discount Kreider's impact. He is exactly the type of player that top PP unit needed.

last year, the Ducks had 4 PP goals in their first 10 games. This year, they have 4 PP goals in their first 3 games.

this is going to be such a long season in San Jose.

went to bed after the 2nd of the Ducks/Penguins game, but what really stuck out to me is the speed from Cutter Gauthier. Not just his skating, but making quick plays and processing the game at a high level. He is so much more than just a great shooter.

With Pius Suter on the ice at 5v5 this year, the Blues are:
+16 by shot attempts
+12 by shots
+2 by goals
71.7% xG share

pretty wild that all it took to sign him was 2 years at $4.1M per season.

Kirill Marchenko strikes me as a player that if he played for an Original 6 team we’d never stop hearing about how good he is.

If Nick Suzuki and Sidney Crosby had a kid it would look like Sean Monahan.

Gaus not locating super well. Hard to complain about a zero but hope he can find it in the next few innings.

This is the second time this week I’ve been forced to watch the Chicago Blackhawks, which would be a crime in any civilized society, but it did give me a couple thoughts
1) the only question about Nazar is exactly how good he’ll be
2) Spencer Knight looks like a true #1

I suppose I’ll have to fire off the hot take, be brave, and say: having no elite puck-moving dmen with two-thirds of the blue line being average-to-awful at moving the puck is, in fact, not great
