I do think it manages to justify itself by lieu of how it plays into the show's themes for all its worth. Plus, it has one of the best Bruce/Selina scenes in the entire show, and I'm not complaining on that front.

the focus like Alfred and Jeremiah have their moments. For all the complaints I can make, the way Gotham manages to conclude its storylines isn't something I have much of a problem with. The actual finale is a bit weird in how it exists as something so disconnected from the rest of the show, but-

phenomenal as always, especially Oswald's, Jim and Harvey are just great even if they've reached their apex in season 4 imo, Barbara and Lee somehow manage to work out despite everything and their conclusions genuinely do end up being heartwarming, et al... even characters that aren't strictly-

while being satisfying on both a thematic and character note, and there's a lot to appreciate regardless! Bruce and Selina are at their best here and have managed to establish themselves as some of my favorite characters in general, Oswald and Ed are continuously a joy to watch and their actors are-

to show off without considering the focus issues present (I really don't think it was necessary to dedicate an entire episode to fucking Dix and Jane Cartwright for one). That being said, I do genuinely believe Gotham manages to provide a coherent conclusion to its main plotline-

at all. It hurts a lot of potentially interesting plotlines that really would've benefitted from even just an episode or two to unpack (The Barbara/Lee and Bruce/Selina ones come to mind) and there are also some moments where it feels like the writers had some nifty idea they really wanted-

Gotham has always had its fair share of fast pacing, and this is where it's keenly felt the most, I feel. As a result of only having twelve episodes instead of twenty two to wrap things up, it has to rush even more to conclude things, and there's really no downtime to let things marinate much, if-

Gotham Season 5 (TV Show)

Almost forgot to do this, whoops. Capping off my seven months of watching this show, I've finally reached the end of this behemoth. Does the fifth season stick the landing? It's... a bit complicated, I will admit, but for what it *did* provide, yeah, I enjoyed it! 4/5.
