Here to find hope and a tribe. There is no equality without equity. I'm prepared to fight, and I'm at peace with that. Really, unexpectedly, enjoying the Fungi on this platform. Please NO DMs; it's weird. Seriously. Weird.

California just banned employers from forcing workers to pay a debt, fee, or penalty to leave their job.

Bosses have increasingly been trapping workers with debts incurred in training and other exploitative fees.

Now that's illegal in the nation's biggest state.

REPORTER: We know the president moved forward with mass layoffs. We're also learning there were significant cuts to staff at special education services. Are you comfortable with those cuts?

MIKE JOHNSON: I haven't seen the specifics of that and I don't know

Forcing reporters to pre-agree to publish only government-approved content crosses into (prior restraint,) a red line in First Amendment law. The press exists to scrutinize power, not serve it. When the state controls the narrative, it stops being news, & instead becomes state sanctioned propaganda.

Chatting with our teen nephew tonight, he pointed out something we had not considered.

The Portland “Frog Brigade” has not only dismantled Trump’s propaganda “war torn” narrative. But, it’s also flipped the symbolism of the frog from hate to humor, from alt-right to anti-fascist.

They’re now shitting on the Bill of Rights.

“Policy says reporters cannot obtain or solicit any information the Defense Department does not explicitly authorize. Any media who does not sign by 5 p.m. Tuesday has 24 hours to turn in their media credentials and clear out.”

Absolute fucking abomination.

Federal goons at Portland's ICE fortress stalled an ambulance crew for 20 minutes, bellowing threats to shoot and arrest a medic hauling an injured protester, all while demanding a backseat ride. #PoliceBrutality

ICE in Chicago detained two people (that we know of) for filming them today, a cyclist and a neighborhood rapid responder. This in addition to tear gassing another neighborhood and brandishing weapons at rapid response—both things that have also already been going on for weeks.

A tweet by James Surowiecki replying to David J. Bier. Surowiecki asks, “Where in the Immigration and Nationality Act does it say that US citizens have to prove that they're citizens or else be arrested?” The quoted tweet by Bier reads, “ICE agents to US citizen: Turn around or you're getting the dog,” accompanied by a photo of a man wearing a face mask and standing near vehicles at night.

Police officers who publicly declare that they’ll quit if a mayoral candidate they dislike wins the election are (1) usually bluffing—sure buddy, toss away that paycheck and pension—and (2) exactly the sort of cops cities would be better off without, ones who don’t see themselves as public servants.

You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.

Kelly: I really worry about those aviators, drone operators, special forces guys that are in the Caribbean right now striking these boats and whether or not this is legal..

There’s no authorization for the use of military force. The Congress has not given that to the president. He hasn’t asked.
