Doug Ford, screwing over everyone once again. https://archive.ph/uwEHW (requiring a ridiculous two years of Ontario highschool for a medical residency, thus shutting out immigrants.)

You ever think to yourself “but I am just one person, what can I do to make a difference?”

It turns out that “wear an inflatable frog costume and go downtown” is actually a really reasonable answer.

Pretty ballsy at the coffee place to have the interac machine programmed with suggested tips of $1, $2, and $3 - on a $3 cup of coffee.

Sigh. Car needed a new muffler pipe. Brought it in. Several hours later... "So we torched the gear shift cable..."

Swell.

“I’m worried about my community… I’m out here in a frog costume to show how ridiculous the notion that we’re violent terrorists is, and showcase how that narrative is wrong…”

Serious Q: is it too late to give this dude the Nobel Peace Prize? 🐸 🏆

Am in a bookstore. In this aisle, a person having a video chat with the audio set extra loud. "I can't hear you say that again"

Experimenting with a new concept using @queermedieval.bsky.social’s Portland Frog woodcut. Embracing goofiness as protest.
A poster in green ink on off white paper. In the center is a woodcut style illustration of a protester wearing an inflatable frog costume standing up against two ICE agents. The text above and below reads:

$600,000 annual salary. Gosh. You'd need a lot of money coming in to pay that out one would assume.

#alberta govt smugly stopped tracking class sizes.

Then it cynically changed its funding formula.

Now, they are issues in a teachers' strike.

The rent-a-cop security at the strike are more often than not talking on their phones than eg taking down license plates, filming altercations and the dangerous driving going on. Some people are using their cars as weapons; it's only a miracle that they haven't actually hit people yet (there […]

What can you do? The FCC never opened up a comment period on RO's filing for launch, so there's no official way to protest. They may open it up later? Absolutely no info on that.

DarkSky International is working on a petition to be delivered to RO's misguided investors, I will share that as […]

The costs to ecology:

These are too numerous to even try to list.

All life on Earth – including humans, migrating birds, pollinating insects, plankton in the oceans – depends on the natural day-night cycle of light and darkness. Many hundreds of scientific studies document the importance to […]

Similar to astronomical observing with a full moon in the sky, it would restrict observations to only the very brightest handful of stars and planets. This would cause the vast majority of astronomy research to be impossible while one or more of these satellites is above the horizon.

Directly […]

The costs to astronomy:

Have you noticed how bright the sky is the last few nights with the very bright nearly-full moon? Now imagine a point source 4x brighter, and moving across the sky. That's what they want to do

Astronomy requires dark skies to see faint celestial objects. Due to […]
