We did. Working against almost limitless kleptocrat funding and an entrenched propaganda machine is a hard task, especially when half the population is very susceptible to authoritarian manipulation and fearmongering. 🙁
I posted this thread at the start of 2017, but it's just as relevant (actually more so) today
"This is the real danger of para-fascism: once certain forces are unleashed, they often take on a life of their own and prove impossible to
Unfortunately Chuck Norris and Steven Segal are right-wingers in real life, so we're going to have to call for backup
I was specifically referring to violence between divergent factions *within* the administration as a result of power struggles. I completely agree that they will use unmitigated violence on any out group they target, including asylum seekers.

Rocky Horror is awesome, but the fugitive (Barry Allen Bostwick) is not the same person as the actor who played Brad (Barry Knapp Bostwick), who is probably horrified people are mistaking him for a predator.
Mind you, I wouldn't expect things to play as violently as they did in Nazi Germany. The US version would probably mostly involve sidelining opponents complemented by a mysterious uptick in the number of people mysteriously falling out of windows or getting hit by cars.

At the same time, each group is jockeying for power within the administration and party governance structures. They needed to show unity to gain control of the presidency, congress, and the judiciary, but as they move to consolidate power, cracks may start to show.

Hey @philginsburgsf - Really hoping you do right by the many families who had their @CampMather weeks cancelled by SFRecPark with one day's notice this summer due to the staff COVID outbreak. Guaranteed slots for 2023 would be the best solution.
I believe this is what you did for folks who were forced to miss camp in past years due to fires and Norovirus outbreaks.
