To be clear, I'm all for remakes every 'great' director has made one (hell even Haneke!). But remakes chasing the exact same thing as the last incarnation, not so much.

I think that knee jerk reaction of ppl is understandable when the amount of remakes that are made as passion projects of an artist (Spielberg's West Side Story) vs the ones made for cash grab (Elm Street '10) are vastly less frequent.

When I say bar to clear here, I mean it needs to say and do something more than just the-original-but-longer and the original does and says A LOT.

We have countless obvious cash grabs regurgitating something that was already successful in the hopes of more success, I hope this isn't one of them.

The difference between a film and a mini series is not as transformative of a leap as stage to film.

I'm fine with remakes but the bar for quality in craft for something like this is insane to clear...

Just one of the many scenes that has made THE RAID an action classic. Each fight scene tells a story through innovative hard hitting choreography that has a rhythm and flow all its own preformed flawlessly by Iko Uwais and team. Absolute cinema!!

I will say, it still got 53 nominations, compared to The Good Fight which I would also put forward as an all-time TV show, which was only ever nominated for a best song and best title music, and TGF deserved way more love than it ever got.

With choreography so swift it slips between frames and violent pyrotechnics that HAVE to have been a maelstrom of near-disaster stunts we probably don’t want to think too deeply about, it’s hard to argue against this as some of the best of Hong Kong’s fantasy fight and flight. Pure overstimulation.
