Same reason why Sony is forcing their account services with their PC ports. It's for control and racking up numbers so stock go up.

Please use this app that doesn't differentiate itself from the browser version at all so that we can more easily harvest more of your data.

(I don't know how tech works, but I'm making a calculated guess this is one of the reasons.)

Evidently, this is the point of the game where it can branch off into one of several directions (depending on which quests you undertake and when).

Sadly, I stopped keeping track of when was what and who’s who half the game ago. I’ll just go with my gut and see where the chips fall.

The game‘s lasting a little longer than I thought. Lots of lore dumping in the latter fourth, with it possibly having jumped the shark a bit.

However, I’ll do my best to finish it. Hopefully, the “Time Egg” chapter is basically the end. Both gameplay and story are losing their sheen. #blutoid

I'm now at the "Lavos Beckons" chapter of Chrono Trigger.

The boss fight before I awoke the Guru had my brain steamin'. Haven't had to concentrate like that in a video game for some time. Needed to execute a specific pattern of moves in real-time, but it felt so good to persevere. #blutoid

I'll stop posting screens from this point forward, but Chrono Trigger will likely be the first JRPG I've completed since the original release of SMTV!

It's not spectacular (must've been in '95), but it's got a lot of heart, beauty, fun and some shockingly (for the genre) steady pacing. #blutoid

I wasn't as keen on Wonder as most, but it's easily the direction they should be going with from here on. Stylistically, thematically, everything.

Biggest issue was the lack of post-content. That's usually the best part of a lot of post-Galaxy Mario.

Amazing first hour. Remained interesting for a couple or more. Mediocre mid-point. Faceplanted by the latter fourth and never recovered.

Even if the ending made sense, I couldn't stand how pretentious it was.

Roboquest is basically that, but better IMO. Could not put it down for those first 20-30 hours. Gunfire felt like it probably had more to it, though it takes far longer to get to that point.
