apparently the new Netflix show Monster: The Ed Gein Story invented an "autogynephilia" backstory for their serial killer (because of course they did!). so time to re-up my collection of writings on this pseudoscientific zombie theory...

Doug Little (dml) har just released a working build of "Minecraft"* for the 1992 Atari Falcon computer. You'll need 14MB RAM and an FPU, but if you have those you can run it on the real hardware from back in the day!

Photo of an Atari Falcon running what looks like Minecraft. The image shows textured grassy blocks and hills near the player, and in the distance can be seen untextured blocks looking like stone and possible a little house.

Well worth it imho. Not too much work to set up, and it is then just something that runs in the background, grabbing things when available.

Torrents these days for me, depending on what you need.
Most tools like all the *arr tools support both though.

We're so relieved to see Germany reaffirm its opposition to the dangerous Chat Control proposal--the one that would mandate mass scanning of communications. Germany's long been a solid champion of privacy, and the news that it was considering backing mass surveillance was alarming. 1/

Strongly recommend this thread from a friend of mine for explanations and nuance.

Tl;dr, Dismissed does NOT mean not guilty, it means the case was filed in the wrong jurisdiction.

So, at this point you may well have seen an article like this one: movieweb.com/neil-gaiman-..., and I really want to talk about what it actually means from a legal perspective. Just to establish bona fides here, I'm not a lawyer. I'm a guy who went to law school, got out, and learned he hated law

When I said I wanted the old internet back, I didn’t mean petty little dictators throwing fits in their own forums and squabbling with posters.

Which one of you jerks wished on a monkey’s paw?

Cyberattack on Asahi Group paralyzed 30 factories in Japan and may lead to a shortage of the country’s most popular beer. Ransomware attack blocked the ordering/delivery systems of the brewer. Company switched to manual processing. Solution is clear: drink wine.

Just the cover of Duran Duran's Rio might be a good one :)
The subject is a woman with dark hair and striking makeup, captured in a warm, inviting smile.
The artwork features a sophisticated color scheme, with the woman's features standing out against a vibrant background, evoking a sense of glamour.
Text on top says Duran Duran.
Below that the cursive bold text RIO is partially overlaid on the woman's dark hair.

Post-punk more, but something that shows things were changing fast. Clashes of future and past, that sort of thing.

I'll look for something better :)

Cool idea. Personally it would be nice to see some UK music mags in there as well (TIME seems so 'american' to me).

1. Dr. Jane Goodall 1934 - 2025

In 1962, a very young woman named Jane Goodall stepped into the African forest.

What she would discover shattered our understanding of the place of human beings in the world.

She revealed that chimpanzees use tools, form bonds, and experience emotions.
