Hoping this helps our colleagues across the industry
I would love to ...live long enough to actually use this!

This is a great piece on efforts to envision a truly transformational regional rail system for So Cal. Looks at all these publicly-owned tracks! We should have have 15 minute peak service running under overhead wires powered by 100% renewable energy.
the cheapest food is plant based - but its a lot of work! The great cuisines of poor nations use a little meat but most of the calories come from plants - Masa and beans - Dal and Roti - barley and lentils. OTOH making tortillas all day is a full time job...
Hey wait - can ZM get the whole NYC government on here?

California also spends less per person on transit capital than Utah. California is spending about 2x more but has more than 10x the population - and in a less efficient manner with more uncertainty and overhead. If Utah, a red state, can spend on rail, why can't California?
not to worry - Trump will double down immediately.
I think the root cause of the problem described is asset inflation which came largely from the bailouts in '00, '08 and '20 along with decline in marginal tax rates. But its hard to put together a political constituency for tighter money! And efforts on a local scale can't do much.
but a totally discredited sex pest still got 40% of the vote! That's not nothing. If Sliwa had dropped out Z would have probably just squeaked by. So all the assholery wasn't totally ineffective - just wasn't enough
dude we follow you because you are doing it right!

When I was four (Season 1!) I wrote to Sesame Street asking how Big Bird was able to move his hands and beak at the same time and received a letter and a hand-drawn sketch back from Jim Henson, but there was no mention of BB's given name!
I think you speak of his cousin Abelardo Montoya?
"broad based" has got to include the Koch Brothers apparently
What is this "toughness" on crime you want? Should we re-criminalize marijuana? There are ~2 *million* Americans in prison, should we go for 3? Are Democrats somehow "pro-crime"? Because black ppl are part of the coalition or why?
bigotry *in general* is now obligatory! Efforts at inclusion are crimes! Discrimination is a right! We need to get back to some kind of right-side-up norms around bigotry stat!

i do think Dems should moderate on immigration in the sense that Dems should redesign our immigration policy to work like people think it works: you wait for a while (but not forever) to get into the country and then you wait for a while (but not forever) to become a citizen.
mustard - chemical weapon I guess
The sandwich was not baseball-hard! - the chef should sue for libel. Looked like a nice tender sub.

Agent Lairmore is done with his testimony. Prosecution asked further about the condiments and he said there was mustard on his uniform and an onion hanging on his radio antenna. Don’t think defense was going for a pun when she called him a “seasoned officer,” but you never know…
Yah that pic is gross and he has regretted it publicly. ...but I'm not worried about Mamdani being anti-LGBTQ and literally no-one else is either. Try again.
yeah, I know - I was an Oaklander for a minute in 85... just sweating you for saying "only"! (though I guess a little murder never killed anybody...)
175 is a lot of murders for a city of ~350k - that's 1 in 2000 citizens! or using the conventional measure, 500 per million compared to say 10 for London!
